Job Information Job Title: Program Coordinator

Job Summary Walk Bike Nashville, is a 501(c)3 with a mission to make the Nashville area more walkable, bikeable, and liveable. We are seeking a Program Coordinator to: 1) Coordinate, market, execute, and evaluate bicycle and pedestrian classes for Walk Bike Nashville’s adult education program, Walk Bike University. 2) Plan and execute the new Safe Routes to Shops Program for at risk communities in the Nashville area. 3) Other programs and roles as assigned. Walk Bike Nashville is a small organization and all staff are expected to help with various elements of the organization’s work. 4) Assist with general organizational events and activities. 5) Work with the Walk Bike Nashville team to further the organization and promote walking and biking in Nashville.

Key Functions & Expectations Reporting to and working with the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will be charged with developing and maintaining effective and efficient programs. This will require skills including, but not limited to: •

Research – Research trends, best practices, and recommended strategies to provide input to program design, implementation, and evaluation.



Plan and Develop – Plan and develop events and/or program/service to meet established goals, objectives and timelines.



Generate and Coordinate Resources – Determine, develop, and monitor resources/promotional efforts needed and create budgetary proposals to carry out these efforts. This may include grant writing, fundraising, contract proposals, purchase requests, and maintaining appropriate documentation on resource allocation.



Coordinate Partnerships and Volunteers – Develop effective community partnership and/or solicit volunteers, students, and/or other staff members to help in the execution of the event and/or program/services. Provide training, oversight, and performance feedback as needed.



Lead and Execute – Lead and execute the event and/or program/service by developing and implementing the logistical plan, timeline, and budget necessary to successfully carry out the event and/or program/service. Make on-site decisions to resolve problems and maintain appropriate documentation to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and funding requirements.



Evaluate and Report – Continuously compile data, review, analyze, and report outcomes against established goals, objectives, and timelines; make recommendations to the event and/or program/service as needed.

Qualifications The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications: •

Education: Bachelor’s degree in community development, health promotion, business, public policy, or related field.



Experience: 2 years in field previous to employment.



Personal Attributes: o Desire to promote the right for all Nashvillians to be able to walk and bike, either for recreation or transportation o An organized individual with strong attention to detail o Ability to create strong project plans and oversee programs from development through implementation and evaluation o Has experience working with adult education and/or with at-risk communities o Creative problem solver o Self-motivator who is able and excited to work in less structured environment o Clear communicator, both verbally and in writing o Works independently and collaboratively o Understands and manages priorities in a timely manner o Has integrity, dedication, drive, diplomacy AND an overall love of walking and biking, and the communities that support these activities Preferred Attributes (not required) o Marketing and communications experience o Experience with design software (including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) o Knowledge of the biking and walking community in Nashville o League of American Bicyclists certified Bicycle Instructor



Compensation Salary commensurate with experience.
