Job Posting: Director, Education and Training Posted November 28, 2017 Ready to Rent BC has an opening for Director, Education and Training Ready to Rent BC (R2R) opens doors through education. Our theory of change is that education is transformative and, alongside supports, a key component in developing the combination of knowledge, life skills and confidence in people to find and maintain housing and build successful tenancy. Ready to Rent builds capacity in housing providers and landlords and develops common language, common skills and community understanding between tenant and landlord and builds successful tenancies on both sides of the tenancy relationship. www.readytorentbc.org Position Summary: Director of Education and Training is responsible for multiple educational curriculums, many based on housing. This role will include responsibility from interception to evaluation, including research, development, design, updates and adaption. And, other writings as needed, such as research papers and media writing. Director of Education and Training will be a key Master Trainer for Ready to Rent and play an important facilitation role in a quickly growing housing education organization. Master Training will include facilitating at least one RentSmart Educator 4 day training course per month in various communities across Canada. The Director of Education and Training reports directly to the Executive Director of Ready to Rent BC. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who wants to utilize their specialized skills in facilitation and curriculum, including transformative education principles, adult-education, and asset based education and programs. This role is exciting and the candidate will play a key role in increasing impact in homelessness prevention and increasing housing stability across Canada. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a related area plus a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience Qualifications: • Group facilitation experience • Curriculum writing and instructional design experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge and Experience: • Understands adult-based learning principles • Ability to integrate transformative training principles in all curriculum development • Experience delivering excellence • Comfortable developing curriculum throughout all phases, providing overall pedagogical review to ensure consistency, quality, and appropriateness to intended populations Project management within a multidisciplinary team setting Responsibilities: • Master Trainer facilitation of RentSmart Educator 4 day training and various other courses, as needed • Research and development of curriculum • Oversee research and instructional design process • Manage edits, updates and adaptations of curriculum • Share learnings through research papers • Support media and marketing writing Skills and Abilities: • Excellent relationship management and problem solving skills • Understanding of adult education principles and best practice transformative training • Inspires others through their coaching and facilitation style • Strong presentation and training skills • Consistent attention to detail, accuracy and quality of work • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Good understanding of a range of programs and platforms to support visual presentations, graphics and print materials, access and distribution Compensation: • Competitive compensation based on experience - $49,000- $52,000 • 3 weeks holidays Work Hours: • This is a salaried position based on a 30 hour workweek. Due to travel requirements, schedule of hours worked is relatively flexible. Ability to travel within BC and other parts of Canada for 6 days travel per month. There are months that travel and facilitation of more than one training may be required in Canada.
