Learn more about us here: www.skipperotto.ca About the Role The Business Systems Specialist is a newly created role that will be responsible for maintaining, streamlining and re-imagining the many business systems that are currently in use at Skipper Otto’s. Given the small size of the Skipper Otto team, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the business including strategic planning, marketing, inventory, logistics, technology, finance, accounting and government reporting. With the company growing rapidly, this position is needed to collaborate with other team members and contractors to identify challenges in various areas of the business and use their creativity to research and develop new solutions.

Specific Responsibilities The Business Systems Specialist will: Marketing • Collaborate on the development of the annual marketing plan and oversee that all parties are executing per the agreed timeline and budget • Ensure marketing materials are up to date and available to our distribution partners • Ensure that all information on the website is up to date and accurate #210 – 128 West Hastings, Vancouver, BC V6B 1G8

Update and print the custom labels for each fisherman’s incoming catch

Logistics & Inventory • Work with our new software provider to ensure that inventory is tracked and traceable through all stages of the supply chain – from fisherman to processor to cold storage. • Monitor inventory levels of seafood and packing supplies and work with suppliers and team members to restock • Act as dispatcher by creating effective and clear daily route plans for our drivers • Communicate with cold shipping companies to ensure deliveries are picked up and delivered Financial Operations and Reporting • Collaborate with our bookkeeper and Director of Operations to ensure financial data can be used for effective decision-making • Prepare monthly financial statements for the bookkeeper • Track fishermen sales and ensure prompt payments and reporting • Track and submit Employment Insurance, Worksafe BC and Salmon Marketing Council payments and reports. Strategic Planning • Collaborate with the Director of Operations on creating annual budgets and plans • Create and present monthly reports that will allow for tracking progress against targets and identify trends in the data and suggest changes in plans as needed • Prepare monthly financial statements for the bookkeeper IT • •

Collaborate with the Member Services Manager to launch the new online store and ordering system Ensure that the new system is properly integrated with bookkeeping and inventory management

Responsibilities are likely to change over time based on the company’s seasonality and growth. In all areas of responsibility – the Business System Specialist will be expected to consider new ways of tackling the growth of the company. The systems that have taken Skipper Otto to this stage of its growth are unlikely to be the same ones that will work as it continues to grow.

Preferred Skills and Experience University degree with a preference for business degree Experience in a small, growing company would be an asset Strong writing skills Experienced with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel Experience with Quickbooks Online and/or general accounting principles would be an asset Good at developing business systems in a way that others can follow. Detail oriented. Outgoing, charismatic, and well-spoken Reliable and trust-worthy A drive for constant improvement and the creativity to develop new ways of doing things. Familiarity with and interest in local food movement, sustainable food systems, and/or fishing an asset

Compensation • The position offers a wage of $37,000 - $40,000 a year dependent on experience. • Vacation and benefits package

Position Details This position starts April 3, 2017.
