Organization Lallemand Inc. is a privately held Canadian company, founded at the end of the 19th century, specializing in the development, production and marketing of yeasts and bacteria. The company is comprised of 12 major business units, each focused on specific applications of yeast and bacteria, with operations and management throughout the world. Corporate offices for the parent company Lallemand Inc. are based in Montreal, Canada. Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits (LBDS) is the industry leader in supplying fermentation products and value-added services to the Fuel Ethanol and Beverage Distilling industries. We specialize in the research, development, production and marketing of yeast, yeast nutrients and antimicrobial agents.

Main functions The selected individual will exhibit a solid technical background in the sugar ethanol industry. The ideal candidate will have specific experience with ethanol fermentation at laboratory and commercial scales, application of yeast, and specific knowledge of the ethanol industry customer base. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to manage projects, create written summaries and presentations to upper management, develop trust and credibility with customers, and work as part of a winning team. Specific responsibilities may include:  Communicating and negotiating directly with customers to arrange and successfully execute plant trials according to a written demonstration plan;  Being part of an integrated account team working with sales and marketing colleagues, commercial partners, and management to set and meet sales goals;  Troubleshooting and responding to customer needs and questions during plant trials and on an ongoing basis;  Preparing technical presentations and summary reports for customers;  Educating customers about strategies to obtain best performance outcomes from products;  Preparing business summaries and presentations for upper management;  Working with the R&D group to develop effective application testing protocols and experiments to evaluate customer needs, recommend optimum product application, and maximize the value of the product;  Collecting, organizing, and analyzing plant trial technical data to help guide ongoing R&D team efforts to continuously improve products and provide greater value to customers;

Required qualifications Technical skills  Undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or Chemical Engineering; other disciplines considered depending on specific experience;  Two or more years of relevant industrial experience. Relevant experience must be outside of a university setting and could include working in the industrial yeast industry, industrial enzyme industry, and/or the ethanol/biofuels industry;  Specific experience and knowledge of customers and operations in the sugar/ethanol industry. Demonstrated success working in a production environment;  Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and work with colleagues to create and deliver upon measurable business outcomes in a fast-paced environment;  Working knowledge of yeast metabolism;  Successful candidates will have strong skills in communication, planning, and documentation, as well as adapting to a dynamic work environment;  Demonstrated ability to work safely at commercial customer field sites or within a production environment adhering to facility and corporate safety guidelines and rules as well as all applicable regulations;  Ability to travel approximately 75% on average to provide technical support at customer sites and maintain communication with team members; General criteria  Proven history of accomplishments, including as a member of cross-functional project teams;  English fluency sufficient to communicate complex ideas and information with team members.
