Advanced Academics Campus Coordinator

WAGE/HOUR: Exempt

REPORTS TO:

Campus Principal

PAY GRADE: Teacher

DEPARTMENT: High School Campus

DAYS: 187

ROLE AND PURPOSE: The primary role of the Advanced Academics Campus Coordinator will be to work with teachers and school staff to support student participation and achievement in Advanced Placement, IB, and Dual Credit programs. Based on campus need and upon direction from the campus principal, the Advanced Academics Coordinator may also be assigned to teach a subject (e.g., math, English, Social Studies, etc.); refer to item I (D) of this posting.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:  Texas Teacher’s Certification/Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred Experience:  Minimum of five years’ teaching experience, including experience teaching advanced academic level courses MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT A. Possess the ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness B. Utilize program and district instructional resources to support effective teaching and student learning C. Assist with planning of all campus advanced academic testing, e.g., PSAT, SAT, AP, IB, Dual Credit II.

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE A. Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills B. Promote the benefits and accessibility of advanced academic programs C. Model and promote a college-going culture for students and staff

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. Serve as liaison between campus and Advanced Academics Department to ensure compliance with district, state and program requirements B. Serve as liaison with feeder junior high schools’ staffs and teachers C. Serve on Advanced Academics Committee and local PLCs to strengthen programs’ best practices

IV.

ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT A. Exhibit a high proficiency in computer usage and instructional technology B. Assist the district Advanced Academics Department with planning and promoting of subsequent years’ budget, facilities, and staffing needs

STUDENT MANAGEMENT A. Assist the district Advanced Academics Coordinator with campus and district enrollment management

VI.

SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS A. Coordinate campus recruitment activities to promote enrollment in advanced academic programs, utilizing available resources, e.g., data reports and AP Potential B. Coordinate and update campus publications to ensure parent awareness of advanced academic programs C. Promote the advanced academic programs through a variety of informational and communication venues, e.g., College Fair, school events, etc.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT A. Facilitate campus and network advanced academic professional learning communities B. Attend regularly scheduled district-led advanced academic trainings

VIII.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES A. Oversee advanced academic-related out-of-district travel and conference opportunities

MISCELLANEOUS A. Performs other duties as assigned
