Job Title: Public Relations Liaison Overview

This volunteer position serves as a strategic partner to promote the Fraternity’s programming and philanthropic initiatives in local media outlets. This is an opportunity for those who would like to volunteer on a case-by-case basis to help with media relations work when the Fraternity is active in their market.

Key Responsibilities

Expand Pi Beta Phi’s communication and public relations network and capitalize on the Fraternity’s brand externally. Act as a trusted source to share Pi Beta Phi’s messages with media outlets with established relationships. This includes a relationship with a reporter, editor or producer at a local newspaper, magazine, TV station, blog or other local publication. Understand the local nuances and preferences of the media when providing outreach. Work collaboratively with a diverse group of people in the organization (staff, volunteer officers, collegiate and alumnae volunteers, etc.) on projects as assigned to fulfill the Fraternity Communication Strategy.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to The Arrow Editor/Communications Coordinator.

Travel

No travel required.

Qualifications Education/Knowledge/ Experience in the communications or public relations fields, including established contacts with reporters and newspaper Experience editors and deep relationships with key stakeholders and media outlets in local community.
