Autism Ontario is a charitable organization founded in 1973 and is a strong voice for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism Ontario has Chapters serving almost every corner of the province. Each Chapter is run by dedicated volunteers and local Chapter Leadership Councils. These volunteers organize and support parent-to-parent contact, provide official SEAC representation for ASD to boards of education, camps and public awareness forums. Job Title: Resource & Fund Development Coordinator Location: Autism Ontario Provincial Office (1179 King St. West) Hours of Work: 37.5 hours (1.0 FTE) Duration: 6 Month Contract (possibility of renewal) Job Summary: Working closely with the Fund Development Manager, the Resource and Fund Development Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership that supports and develops comprehensive funding and resource development strategies to achieve Autism Ontario’s ends, Strategic Directions and Fundraising Priorities. In addition, the Coordinator will be managing and overseeing our signature events s/he will serve as a passionate ambassador for Autism Ontario through engaging new volunteers, families, event participants, and new organizations. Key Responsibilities 1. Collaboration 

 

Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all Autism Ontario staff, consultants and volunteers to achieve Autism Ontario’s vision and mission through multi-faceted resource and fund development strategies, and foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. Focus collaborative efforts with Fund Development Team within a shared leadership model Support a process of engagement with major donors



Work with internal staff and external consultants on content and marketing aspects of printed materials in keeping with organizational branding

2. Resource Development          

Develop and foster donor and volunteer relationships Donor database development Support for development and execution of direct mail campaigns Donor acknowledgement and retention strategy and implementation Work with the finance team to coordinate communications regarding donor receipting and acknowledgement Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, donors and the business community Support the development of a culture of giving within Autism Ontario Raiser’s Edge Develop and implement an organizational multi-year plan to maximize RE for organizational resource development Provide leadership in all aspects of the development of Autism Ontario’s Annual Report

3. Grants  

Oversee the coordination and multi-year planning for all Grant Proposals while working collaboratively with the community resource manager Execute entire process of grant proposals including: research, writing, application submissions, monitoring and administrative components

4. Events    

Support all aspects of our important events including our golf tournament and Scotiabank Toronto Marathon. Assess and develop increased capacity for the above events or the development of new events to achieve our annual fundraising objectives Coordinate volunteer and staff supports for these and other third party events for provincial events. Develop capacity to maintain existing third party events and foster new relationships to increase the number and scope of third party events

Qualifications 

          

Bachelor’s Degree and/or college diploma in a relevant field and/or combined education and minimum of 5 years work experience consistent with fundraising and resource development in a not-for-profit or charitable setting Must be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude, capable of working within a dynamic, multi-faceted team environment High level of ownership, accountability and initiative Strategic thinker and problem solver who can overcome challenges as they come Work independently and purposefully towards immediate and longer term goals Foster meaningful internal and external working relationships of Autism Ontario towards resource and fund development objectives Experience with Raiser’s Edge donor database system Strong working knowledge with MS Office Suite programmes Excellent written and verbal communication skills Successful Grant application and grant-writing skills All aspects of event management from concept to implementation Graphic design software experience (an asset but not required)

Additional requirements     

Must have valid Ontario Driver’s license and reliable vehicle or mode of transportation Travel within GTA (15%) Ability to thrive in a busy and complex organizational environment Ability to work some evenings and weekends Ability to speak French is considered an asset
