ROLE AND PURPOSE: Provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for students in grades 7-8 and specifically provide services to meet the special needs of his/her assigned caseload; consult with teachers, parents and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students’ educational, social, personal, and career development; and provide support to other junior high school educational programs. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: • Master’s Degree from accredited college or university • Valid Texas Counselor’s Certification Experience: • Three years teaching experience MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT A. Teach the junior high guidance curriculum B. Guide individual and groups of students through the development of educational and career plans II.
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE A. Identify and support at-risk students B. Counsel individual students and small groups of students that are in at-risk situations C. Consult with teachers, parents, and staff regarding meeting developmental needs of adolescents and regarding specific information about the students for whom they have responsibility

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. Coordinate, conduct or participate in activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school B. Demonstrate leadership ability C. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with other professionals

STUDENT MANAGEMENT A. Refer students in at-risk situations and/or parents to special programs and /or specialists
