The Fund 17 Capital Access Coordinator is a new position with the goal to expand our capacity  and impact in bringing affordable capital to under-resourced entrepreneurs in New Orleans. 

  ABOUT US  We  are  a  small  but  growing  501c3  nonprofit  organization  with  the  goal  of  turning  hustles  into  livelihoods  in  the  17  wards  of  New  Orleans.  We  provide  free  training  and  resources  to  entrepreneurial  community  members  including  1-on-1  business  development  support,  workshops  and  loan  advising.  Founded  in 2012 as a student-run nonprofit, we have grown into  a  diverse  and  robust  community  of  entrepreneurs,  partners,  professionals  and  students  dedicated to creating economic opportunity for all.     Fund 17 began our partnership with Kiva in April 2016 under the US Advisor program. In an  effort to strengthen this partnership and grow Kiva’s presence within our community, we will  become a Kiva Lead City in Fall 2018. 

ABOUT KIVA  Kiva  (​kiva.org​)  is  a  mission  driven  technology  company.  It  is  a  global  marketplace  platform  for  crowd-funded  micro-loans  that serves the impoverished and financially excluded. The company  combines  the  culture  and  technological  passion  of  an  internet  start-up  with  the  compassion  and  empathy  of  a  non-profit  to  address  poverty  at  global  scale.  We  aim  to drive social impact  and  enable  opportunity  while  providing  a  borrower-to-lender  connection:  “Loans  that  change  lives.”  Kiva’s  loans  are  funded  by  a  generous  community  of  over  a  million  people  who  are  motivated  by  creating  economic  opportunities  and  positive  social  change.  In  just  10  years,  Kiva  has  raised  over  a  billion  dollars  in  loan  capital  for  2  million+  borrowers  in  over  85  countries.  

  ABOUT THE POSITION The  Fund  17  Capital  Access  Coordinator  (CAC)  ​will  be  responsible  for organizing projects and  programs  that  increase  capital  investment  in  entrepreneurs  and  small  business  owners  in  New  Orleans. This will include 1) coordinating the growth and development of the Kiva program and  2)  assisting  in  the  pilot  and  growth  of  Fund  17’s  Capital  Ready  program.  Capital  Ready  is  a  1-on-1  financial  education  and  training  program  focused  on  preparing  entrepreneurs  for 

business loans. The CAC will work directly with entrepreneurs as well as with partners and other  stakeholders.    Responsibilities:  ● Strategic Outreach – identify opportunities to promote Kiva and the Capital Ready  program to entrepreneurs through community events, partnership development, and  creative marketing strategies.  ● Scale and Sustainability – our goal is to support 50 small business owners through Kiva  and Capital Ready in the next year to create a framework for continued growth and  sustainability in the future.    ● Stewardship of Partnerships – build out a network of trustees and lenders to support our  effectiveness through Kiva; foster strong relationships with local financial institutions  and bankers in support of our Capital Ready program  ● Depth of Impact – we want to support the most financially excluded communities of  entrepreneurs, especially women and minority owned businesses. It will be critical to  have a deep sense of empathy, patience, and persistence.  ● Collections and Managing Relationships – build and maintain systems/processes to  assist entrepreneurs throughout the application, fundraising and repayment stages of  Kiva  ● Reporting and Fundraising – assist with tracking outcomes and collecting stories to  support fundraising and sustainability efforts of our capital access programs 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR  The ideal candidate is:  ● Highly independent, proactive and entrepreneurial. You need to be a self-starter who is  comfortable with defining your own direction.  ● Passionate about your work and expanding economic opportunity in New Orleans.  ● A strong communicator and collaborative team member. You will become part of the  Kiva team across 10+ cities in the US.  ● Able to successfully juggle multiple projects. You are flexible and comfortable with  change.  ● Someone with a well-developed, balanced skillset. You should be comfortable  answering challenging strategic questions, executing analyses, interacting with people,  and rigorously driving operational execution.  ● A hustler – you thrive on meeting goals and beating benchmarks; you love seeing the  results of your hard work.  ● Positive and enthusiastic, with a deep passion for what we do!  ● Detail oriented, highly organized, great note taker, comfortable navigating CRMs, the  Google Suite and spreadsheets.

ABOUT AMERICORPS VISTA  The  CAC  role  is an AmeriCorps VISTA position, managed through Tulane University. “​Being an  AmeriCorps  VISTA  member  is  about  making  a  tangible  difference  for  communities  and  individuals  dealing  with  some  of  our  Nation's  biggest  challenges:  poverty,  inequity,  homelessness,  and  lack  of  access  to  education.  VISTA  members  help  to  build  the  capacity  of  organizations  that  are  working  to  alleviate  poverty  all  across  the  country.”  As  a  VISTA,  you  recieve:   ● A bi-weekly living stipend  ● Free housing at Deming Pavilion  ● Weekly professional development training at the Tulane Center for Public Service  ● End  of  Service  Award:  Choose  between  a  $5,920  Segal  Education  Award  to  pay  for  a  range of education expenses or a $1,800 cash award.   ● Relocation  Allowance:  If  you  move  50+ miles from your home to a new community, you  receive relocation travel assistance and a settling-in allowance.  ● Healthcare  Benefit:  Enroll  in  either  reimbursement  for  healthcare  or  a  healthcare  plan.  Dental and vision are also included, as are telehealth services.  ● Access to a Professional Development fund to support conference or training expenses
