JOIN OUR TEAM Assistant Youth Coach True North Climbing is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with youth to add to our competitive coaching team. Team practices run weekday evenings and Sundays, with competitions throughout the season (Sept-June) on weekends. True North Climbing is committed to paying competitive wages and advancing the professionalism of climbing as a sport. Assistant coaches start at $18/hour (desk/instructor rate starts at $15.50/hour). All competition expenses: hours/mileage/hotel/flights/meals are covered by the gym. Employees who consistently work 32 hours/week are eligible to join the company’s comprehensive benefits program. Responsibilities: - Working with the head coach to develop and/or implement training plans - Coaching and leading small groups (typically 6 athletes/group) through their training each practice - Coaching at competitions throughout the season, helping with warm up in Iso and/or observing the competition & debriefing with athletes after their round - Developing relationships and working with both parents and the athletes Desired Skills & Experience: - Knowledgeable, experienced, technically solid climber with competitive climbing experience - Experience and knowledge about training for climbing - Familiarity with IFSC/CEC rules and CEC/OCF competition formats and structure - Experience instructing/coaching youth This is a part time position that will consist of mostly evenings and weekends. Depending on availability and preference, the option of adding additional front desk/instructor duties could allow for hours ranging from 12 to close to 40 hours a week.
