Joy Junction provides a hand up as well as a handout to those in need.

Programs

About Us Since opening our doors in 1986, Joy Junction has grown to become New Mexico’s largest homeless shelter. We provide a “hand up” to the homeless and hungry of Albuquerque, as well as a “handout,” offering help and hope to you if you are in need. As many as 300 men, women, children and families count on Joy Junction for shelter, food, clothing and programs each day.

You Are Welcome Joy Junction shelters homeless or abused women, couples, and families. Children are accepted only with a parent or guardian also staying at the shelter. Single men are also welcome as available space allows. We provide you with basic needs, as well as deeper emotional and spiritual support.

• Christ In Power Program (CIPP) is a nine-month life recovery program that teaches life skills and good decisionmaking, to help you to return to mainstream society and employment. Our Bible based approach focuses on your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, to help you overcome addictions and other destructive behaviors. • Hand Up Program (HUP) is a program designed to advocate for your needs as well as assisting in securing the necessary resources to successfully reintegrate you into mainstream society. Our staff will assist you with writing resumes, employment searches, applying for housing, food stamps, social security benefits, scheduling appointments, etc. • Transition Program is a program that allows you to be boarded for six months - a period of time to give you the opportunity to save a portion of your salary to find housing. You will be required to meet with the case manager twice a month and deliver a copy of your paycheck stub to them. • Boost Program is a program allowing those with physical mobility or serious terminal medical issues that restrict mobility to be boarded indefinitely. You will be required to perform chores adapted for your mobility situation for 12 hours per week and will receive a gift check of $10 each week.

You can do it!

Individualized Help At the shelter, our chaplain is available to help you with pastoral counseling, and our case manager can offer advice on individual career and life planning. If possible, we also provide transitional housing to help ensure a successful return to daily life upon program graduation. Lifeline Takes It To The Streets! Joy Junction’s crew drives a food truck, called the “Lifeline of Hope,” throughout Albuquerque to serve you meals if you are homeless or hungry. We also hand out hygiene items, blankets, coats and other items when they are available. Call 505-877-6967 to find out the driver’s schedule. Call us! We invite you to contact us if you need help. Please call us at (800) 924-0569 or (505) 877-6967. We will dispatch a driver to check on you.
