JULY 2018 WHAT’S ON GUIDE

WELCOME MESSAGE Welcome to our Northwich Festival of Arts 2018 'What's On' guide, letting you know about all of the amazing activities taking place during the month-long event this July. Organised by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID), with support from Visual Arts Cheshire (VAC), Northwich Art Shop and other partners, the festival has been created to give a platform to, and celebrate, the creative and artistic talent that exists here in Northwich while also giving the people of the town and wider Mid Cheshire another great event to enjoy. Since receiving the yes vote in 2014, the BID has strived to create unique and exciting events that will put the town on the map and market Northwich as a destination with a difference, and we feel that the Festival of Arts 2018 will really bring something new to the town.

If you would like further information about any of the events contained in this guide, please contact the Northwich BID Team at [email protected]

As you will see later in this guide, the attractions and events featuring will really celebrate and triumph Northwich’s creativity and diversity. These include activities from a number of creative mediums such as art, music, dance, poetry and writing, while there will also be an amazing two-day River Festival organised by the Northwich Rotary Club. The event kicks off with a brilliant exhibition at the Memorial Court run by Northwich Art Shop too and the ever-popular

Northwich Art Trail, being delivered by Visual Arts Cheshire, will bring colour and vibrancy to many of the town’s businesses. We can’t wait for you to enjoy all of the events and attractions with us and hope to see you in Northwich throughout July. A huge thanks must go to Northwich Town Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Tesco Bags for Help and Roberts Bakery for sponsoring the event. Jane Hough, Northwich BID Manager

ART TRAIL JULY 1ST TO JULY 31ST The Northwich Art Trail is now in its 7th year. Since 2014, it has been run by Visual Arts Cheshire (VAC). Every year, VAC invite appropriate shops in the town to take 1 or 2 paintings (sometimes more for a bigger shop) by locally based artists and display them in their windows for the whole of July. Venues such as the Library and the Memorial Court are also included. A flyer will be provided that shows all of the shops in the sequence

that they are met when you’re walking the ‘trail’, and lists the participating artists. The main idea is to encourage people to walk around town looking for the art. So, please follow the trail and support our local retailers and artists. The art is all for sale! This year there are 60 artists taking part (an Art Trail record!) and over 130 pieces of work will be exhibited. The ‘trail base’ will be in the old Adams and

Greenwoods shops in Weaver Walk. Come and take a look! VAC is a ‘not for profit’ Community Interest Company (CIC). We are supported by DAN Community and the Northwich Art Shop. Please contact us if you need more information [email protected]
