CAB Executive Positions
Coffeehouse: Coffeehouse brings musicians and other performers to the Courtyard Café. The Executive searches to find up-‐ and-‐coming artists and publicizes their arrival to Gustavus. Concerts: CAB Concerts produces the Big Concert, which happens every other school year (Ben Folds -‐ 2008). Concerts also finds local and regional music groups to perform on campus. In 2010-‐2011, the Concerts executive will plan the first ever Homecoming Concert as well as another mid-‐sized concert in the spring. Films: The Films Executive is the main sponsor of CAB’s weekend movies, shown Friday and Saturday nights on campus. The Executive decides which movies will be shown based on popularity and student input. This Executive also often co-‐ sponsors movies with other student organizations. Fine Arts & Culture: The Fine Arts and Culture Executive brings students to the best cultural events in the region. Recent events include trips to see “Wicked” and “Beauty and the Beast” in the Cities and the White Privilege Conference coming this April 2010. Publicity: The two Publicity Executives work together to brand the Board’s collaborative efforts and advertise CAB events in creative and innovative ways. They use their creativity to present CAB and its events to the campus community. They work with the other executives as well as campus media to publicize events. Applicants for the co-‐publicity position should be interested in marketing as well as have the ability to produce high quality digital media. Recreation Executive: CAB’s Recreation Executive arranges for trips to sporting events (Twins, Vikings and Wild) along with other events on or near campus like the Gustie Cup, a year long athletic competition between teams. Speakers Executive: The Speakers Executive searches for nationally-‐recognized speakers, comedians and other public figures to come to campus. During the 2010-‐2011 school year, the committee will host a “Big Speaker” event (Jason Lezak -‐ 2009). Special Events Executives: The two Special Events Executives work on many well-‐known events throughout the year. The Executives plan Homecoming Week, Dancing with the Profs, and President’s Ball. Business Manager: All the finances of CAB are run through the Business Manager, who is responsible for filing payments and updating budgets for the executives weekly. The business manager is responsible for the fiscal management of 50% of the student fees. Secretary: The primary responsibility of the secretary is recording minutes at each Board meeting. The secretary also helps provide support to the programmers and assists the Co-‐Presidents as necessary. Co-‐Presidents: The Co-‐Presidents are selected to present CAB to the Gustavus campus. The Co-‐Presidents create the CAB budget along with the Advisor and run CAB Executive meetings. They work one-‐on-‐one with the executives to foster success and accountability in all areas of the Board.
