KAL Swim Performance FAQ’s April 2015 Category Programme

Members Feedback / Concerns Why is the programme being centralised?

Response KAL have developed the programme in line with a full organisational review of activities. KAL has analysed the programme and identified that efficiencies and an increase in quality was required to ensure sustainability and performance. KAL completed a postcode analysis of all the current members within the programme and the data identified that there was a need to have a centralised programme. New Huddersfield Leisure Centre can host more swimmers in the pool and by centralising the programme we can offer all the athletes the best possible facility to train in. The new programme will also allow more coaches on the poolside per session which will support and provide higher quality to the delivery. KAL reviewed the sessions in the North facilities and most sessions were not viable to continue within the programme. A divide between North & South swimmers had caused concern within the programme, the new programme will provide a full team approach. KAL will be faced with large funding cuts over the next few years; KAL Swim Performance needs to ensure that the scheme is a financial sustainable programme.

Price

Why has there been a price increase?

Criteria

Why do we need to start to do log books?

Criteria

Why are we measured on attendance?

KAL have not increased the monthly price per squad for 2 years, the price increase is in line with KAL annual price increase. KAL Swim Performance reviewed the price and programme per squad and this was compared to like programmes in the region, KSP remains the best value for money programme in the region. The completion of the log books is a vital part of the scheme and is a recommendation for Swim 21. Coaches require the information requested to plan, prepare and support each swimmer. The log book is a way of communication and providing feedback and documented aims to support the athletes through long term athlete development. KAL Swim Performance is a ‘performance swimming’ programme, the criteria is determined for each squad in line with British Swimming recommendations and Long Term Athlete Development.
