LAST TIME OUT: UK DOWNS GEORGIA, MISSOURI Kentucky capped a 4-0 homestand, where it won 12 of 13 sets, with a 3-1 victory over Georgia on Nov. 7 and a 3-0 sweep of Missouri on Nov. 9. UK benefited from big runs in sets three and four to post a 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-16, 25-13) win over Georgia. The Wildcats capitalized on an 11-2 spurt in set three and an 11-3 run in set four to pull away from the Bulldogs. Lauren O’Conner notched 21 kills – one shy of matching a career-high – to lead the offensive effort. Anni Thomasson had her 12th double-double of the year with 16 kills and 14 digs while Jackie Napper led the defensive effort with the 26 digs and freshman Kaz Brown logged a match-high five blocks. Sunday vs. Missouri, a balanced offensive attack and a strong finish to each set led Kentucky to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-22) win. Four players recorded at least seven kills as the Wildcats held the Tigers to .275 hitting, including a .139 hitting percentage in the final set. UK had 42 kills on .307 hitting while out-blocking MU 7-3. O’Conner again led Kentucky with 12 kills on .333 hitting. O’CONNER TEARING THE COVER OFF THE BALL Lauren O’Conner is having a senior season to remember. The 15th Wildcat to record 1,000 career kills, the Taylor Mill, Ky., native leads the team with 312 kills in 2014 and 1,137 in her career, 13th-most in UK history. O’Conner has earned back-to-back SEC Player of the Week honors, on Nov. 3 and 10. • O’Conner’s second Player of the Week accolade came after a stretch of nearly 10 consecutive sets without an attack error. In four matches from Oct. 29-Nov. 9, she had 39 kills on 70 attempts with zero attack errors. In the four contests, O’Conner totaled 63 kills on 116 swings with just 6 errors and a .491 attacking percentage. • The senior’s first career Player of the Week honor came after she recorded 19 kills in back-toback matches, including a win over Tennessee, a program record in a three-set match in the 25-point rally scoring era. • In a 3-1 win at South Carolina on Sept. 28, O’Conner had a career-best 22 kills, the most in program history in a four-set match in the 25-point rally scoring era. • O’Conner has led UK in kills a team-high-tying 11 times in 2014. The senior is eighth in the SEC averaging a career-best 3.43 kills-per-set and fourth in SEC play with 3.98 kills per set. She is also third in the league with 0.32 aces per set, seventh in points with 370.0 and 16th in hitting percentage at .317. NAPPER DIGGING HER WAY TO HISTORY Since the position’s inception, every libero at UK has hailed from Louisville, including current senior Jackie Napper. With the streak expecting to end next year when she graduates, Napper is capping the run with a record-setting season. • Napper has been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week four times in 2014, the most by one player in a single season in program history. From Sept. 16 - Oct. 6, Napper earned three of the four SEC accolades. She became UK’s first repeat Defensive Player of the Week honoree since Stephanie Klefot achieved the feat in 2011. • Napper leads UK with 420 digs and has charted 10 or more digs in all but three matches this season. She’s currently averaging a career-high 4.52 digs per set, second-best in the SEC and has logged 15 or more digs in 16 matches this season. • Napper earned her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor on Sept. 15 after an 80-dig, 15-assist week. She averaged 5.00 digs per set and posted match-high dig totals in each contest, including a career-best 26 at Louisville and another 26 three days later at No. 17 North Carolina. WILDCATS IN THE POLLS Kentucky is ranked 15th in the latest AVCA Coaches’ Poll. The Wildcats have been ranked in each of the last 29 polls, the second-longest streak in school history From 2008-2010, UK was ranked for a program-record 31 consecutive weeks. The current streak goes back to the final poll of the 2012 season, including every week in 2013, the sixth time in team history the Wildcats have been ranked in every poll in a season. UK is No. 11 in the fourth NCAA RPI ranking of the season, announced Oct. 27. Used to rank teams based on record and strength of schedule, UK is one of three conference teams in the top 15. MEMORIAL MAGIC Memorial Coliseum has been the home of the Wildcats for all 38 volleyball seasons, and the historic venue has provided the Wildcats with a home court advantage unlike any other. UK is 14-2 at home in 2014, including a 4-1 mark in SEC play. Highlighted by a six match winning streak at home, UK also swept No. 21 Texas A&M in Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 5. A SET FOR THE AGES In UK’s 3-1 win at Louisville on Sept. 9, junior Shelby Workman erupted for 13 of her career-high 21 kills in the third set. The 13 kills in a frame is a program record in the 25-point rally scoring era. Workman’s 21-kill outing was fueled by a career-best .348 hitting percentage, and she turned in the first double-double of her career by chipping in with 12 digs. NONCONFERENCE SEASON IN REVIEW Kentucky notched an 11-2 record in nonconference action, highlighted by an 8-1 mark at home and a 3-2 win at Louisville, its first victory at U of L since 1993. UK’s lone defeats came to No. 6 Southern California and at No. 17 North Carolina. The Wildcats opened the season with 3-0 wins over Wichita State and Butler before a 3-1 victory over Virginia Tech to claim the Bluegrass Battle crown. UK then hosted the Commonwealth Classic and went 2-1 the following weekend before a 2-1 showing at the Carolina Classic. UK’s win at Louisville came in record-setting fashion, its first win at U of L in the Craig Skinner era. Junior Shelby Workman erupted for a career-high 21 kills on .348 hitting, highlighted by a program-record 13 kills in the third set. Senior Jackie Napper, a Louisville native, added a career-best 26 digs while junior Morgan Bergren had 55 assists, the most in a four-set match in UK history in the 25-point rally scoring era. Kentucky’s 67 kills also was a modern-era school record. TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE SLATE Among teams ranked in the AVCA Preseason Top 25, UK faces the second-toughest strength of schedule, based on the 2013 winning percentage of teams’ non-conference opponents. Kentucky’s non-conference foes went 324-104 in 2013, and seven made the NCAA Tournament, headlined by USC’s trip to the Regional Finals. RANKED IN THE PRESEASON, AGAIN At 19th in the preseason top-25, UK is ranked in the AVCA Preseason Coaches’ Poll for a programrecord third consecutive year. It is the fifth time in six years Kentucky has earned a place in the preseason poll, all under head coach Craig Skinner. Before 2009, Kentucky’s first preseason ranking under Skinner, UK had been ranked in the preseason just three times dating back to 1982. • Skinner’s Wildcats have been ranked in the preseason, weekly or final poll 61 times by the AVCA • In 2013, Kentucky debuted at No. 17 and was ranked in the top 25 every week for the seventh time in program history. • UK will face five teams ranked in the preseason poll: No. 5 Southern California, No. 10 Florida, No. 15 Missouri, No. 20 North Carolina and No. 23 Creighton. UK will face USC, UF, Mizzou and CU all at home in Memorial Coliseum. SUMMER BEGAN WITH CHINA TRIP At the beginning of the summer, the Kentucky volleyball team and staff went on a two-week trip to China, where they combined competition, education and culture into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Wildcats visited five cities, played seven matches against some of the elite Chinese professional teams and went on an educational journey along the way. The team visited historical sites and landmarks and took a class that began a week before they left and continued in China. For the student-athletes, the trip was not only an opportunity to bond with their teammates and get better on the court in preparation for the 2014 season, it was a chance to experience an entirely different culture and lifestyle and get out of their comfort zones. PRESEASON ALL-SEC HONORS Junior Morgan Bergren was named to the Preseason All-SEC team, as voted upon by the league’s head coaches. Bergren started all 31 matches for the Wildcats in 2013 and ranked fourth in the SEC with 1,215 assists. She was second on the team with 24 service aces to go along with 192 digs, 130 kills and 77 blocks. This summer, she traveled to Beijing, China, to compete with USA Volleyball on the U.S. Collegiate National Team. UK was also voted to finish second in the SEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. LUCKY THIRTEEN UK is one of just 13 teams in the country to appear in each of the last nine NCAA Tournaments. UK joins the following schools in achieving that feat: California, Colorado State, Florida, Hawaii, Louisville, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Southern California, Stanford, Texas and Washington.

Head Coach Craig Skinner Since being tabbed Kentucky’s head coach in December 2004, Craig Skinner has rejuvenated the Kentucky volleyball program into a national prominence once again. Skinner has directed the Wildcats to NINE consecutive NCAA Tournaments - a feat only 12 other schools in the nation have achieved. That run includes THREE Sweet Sixteen appearances in the last five seasons. Furthermore, the Wildcats have captured 17 or more victories in all 10 seasons under Skinner’s direction, including tallying 20 or more wins in SIX of the last SEVEN, including 2013. He became the fastest coach in school allure to total 100 career victories in just his fifth season, and is the only coach in program history to advance to postseason play in each season at the helm.

The Wildcats have enjoyed unprecedented success which has included a school-record run of 31 consecutive weeks ranked in the top 25 of the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, record-breaking attendance marks and a six time host of NCAA Tournament play including serving as one of four host sites for the 2011 and 2013 NCAA Regionals.
