Sermon Summaries AM Speaker: Ben Cook Pride: A Little Leaven - 1 Corinthians 5:1-8 Believers have a sexual ethic, but as Paul begins to engage the church on this, he really has to address a bigger underlying issue: pride. Pride, in it's essence, cannot acknowledge wrongdoing. Pride even keeps us from seeing our own sin.

Food & Clothing Bank

Thank you so much for supporting the Food Bank. People are so grateful that when they are doing better they too are bringing donations. Please pray that as we continue to serve that God will be blessed. This past week we served 38 families, totaling 142 people! Our needs for the upcoming month: Baked Beans Cake Mixes Frosting

When I finished a speaking event this week a kind woman handed me a gift. It was a painted canvas with beautifully etched flowers and a jeweled bumblebee in the left corner. As I turned it over, I saw a handwritten note she’d taped to the back of the frame. According to the laws of aerodynamics the bumble can’t fly. It’s body is too heavy for its wings. But the bumble doesn’t know this fact, and so it flies anyway– for all to see. Remember this when you’re losing hope; God’s proof that the impossible can be. –A.S. Waldrop As a woman who seems strangely attracted to impossible things– I felt inspired. If a flapping bumblebee can beat the odds, why can’t we? I set out to understand the plight of the yellow-and-black flying fuzz balls and found that, theoretically, they should stay grounded. Their wings are so small that an airplane built with the same proportions would never get off the ground. They also carry large loads of pollen and nectar– sometimes as much as their body mass– simply to help sustain the rest of the bee colony. It’s a food thing no one ever told the bee she can’t fly– or that she doesn’t have the strength to carry her load. She might panic and quit if she knew she was doing the impossible. Jesus promises that all things are possible to those who believe. Even the bee knows that impossible things happen when they set out to fly. When life feels overwhelming– keep flapping your wings. You’re already doing the impossible! - Gari Meacham

Family News Calling All Ladies! For those ladies with a passion for caring for our little ones, the Nursery Team is looking for more volunteers to help serve in the nursery on a rotating basis. Please speak to Linda Turner for more information. For those ladies with a passion for cooking and sharing that gift with others, the Meals Team is also looking for more volunteers. Please speak to Cindy Coleman for more information. Join us for a fishing expedition at Silver Lake on June 30th! It's a great time to get out on a dock or boat for a while and enjoy some time getting away from it all. We are also encouraging you to bring your kids with you to join in on the fun. Do you know someone who has a kid that would like to come? Ask to bring them with you. Learning to fish can be a lot of fun and not everyone has that chance. Maybe you can be the difference for them. We have a Lakeview church wide BBQ at the home of Gary & Katie Calkins coming up on July 28th beginning at noon. Everything is provided, barbeque food, drinks, and games. Just don’t bring your sleeping bag!! Building Update: If you happen to walk by the door and look into our new addition, you will see some very pretty blue paint that has been decided on. They are making so much progress! This week we have cabinets and heating installed, which includes heat in the ladies bathroom. Please note that until the new building is complete, there’s only 1 men and women’s restroom. The smaller bathrooms are being renovated into storage closets. Randy Montgomery got good new this week at his 16 month check up. He is still cancer free! The Life Group that currently meets at the Coleman’s house, please be aware that they have changed their meeting to 1:30pm There are a lot of items piling up on the Lost & Found table. It is located between the picture board and welcome center. Please stop and see if any of the items are yours. Sharon Hayden is looking for temporary housing for her Cockatiel. If you are interested, contact Sharon at 253.537.1998.

We will be helping Mountain States Children’s Home by participating in the Change-ALife campaign. It will run through Aug. 12th and will help purchase clothing and food items which normally cost $62,000 a year. Mountain States Children’s Home extends Christian services to wounded children in an effort to meet their physical needs, heal their emotional hurts, challenge their minds and teach them moral principles, in order to reach the goals of reuniting them with their families or preparing them for independence. H o w y o u c a n h e l p : Pick up a change can at the back by the Welcome Center. Collect change over the next month and look for the time to return them. It’s that easy!! If you have any questions, please see Darrell Davis.
