Prayer Requests Phil Leupold’s father passed away. Please pray for them
as they travel and comfort for the entire family. Jesse and Wilhelmine Conner are in need of prayers for their health and at the recent passing of their daughter. Amanda Gerry, Eric and Valarie Roley’s daughter, has been sent to cover the hurricane. Please pray for her safety and all those in it’s path. Hildred Swearingen fell this past week and is in rehab while she recovers. Jackie Jackson is traveling to Albania. Please pray for her travels and while she is in the country. Briana Brewer is requesting prayers for her friend, Casey, who is dealing with health and financial problems. Matthew & John King’s father, Chris, has been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Ezra Martinov, son of Eugene and Zhanna, will have surgery. Alisha Shannon is traveling east and hopes to do some self reflection while she’s away. Don Langeliers is asking for continued prayers as he deals with depression. Cindy Coleman’s friend is requesting prayer for her son to go into drug rehab. This family has been through a lot.
Family News Elders, Deacons, and Ministry Leaders will meet on Sept 18th at 6pm in room 2. If you are one of the above, please make plans to attend. We had a great turn out last month and want to continue. We also thank you in advanced because we know how busy everyone is. Life Groups will meet at the building next Sunday evening, Sept. 23rd. 5th Sunday Singing will be held at Springbrook on Sept. 30th beginning at 5pm. Lakeview has been asked to bring sandwiches, chips and drinks.

Teen News Jeff Bezos did something this past Thursday that mirrors what we are doing at Lakeview. He gave two billion dollars and funded an organization that will promote pre-school programs for under-served families and create opportunities for homeless families. I was impressed that Bezos put a priority on the needs of families. While we don’t have a two-billion-dollar funding source, we do have gifted people backed by God. It is a priority of the church to speak, teach, and build strong families. That is what we focused on last Sunday as many of our families met to discuss the beginning of Phase One, implementing our new family ministry effort at the Back To School BBQ. Thank you to Katie, Peggy, CJ and Darrell for organizing the event. Phase One is the effort to build a strong peer group for our teens and their families. This effort will be directed by a team of parents and interested individuals, who share a passion for strong families and youth. Thank you to all who volunteered to be a part of this team. Our first meeting will take place soon. We are deciding how to work this meeting around Life Groups. Presently, we have two strong Bible classes for teens in the Teen Cottage on Sunday at 9am (Kenny Coleman) and Wednesday at 7pm (Dennis Baker). Both of these classes deal with helping teens live out their faith in the community. We are offering a family-based class in Room # 4 on Sunday at 9am and the topic is, What Every Child Should know Along the Way. Dennis and others will be leading this class.
