Learning Experiences Manager Pay Grade: 10 (Exempt) Full-time The Learning Experiences Manager works in collaboration with, and under the supervision of, the deputy director to oversee programs, spaces, tools, and staff to facilitate learning for the Skokie community. This department manager oversees the work of a talented team that coordinates youth and family programming, young adult services, adult programming, and experiential learning spaces and opportunities. The learning experiences team designs and implements events, group classes, 1:1 consultations, exhibits, and library learning spaces including the youth computer lab and the BOOMbox, our interactive STEAM space. Minimum Qualifications: (education, experience, and certifications) • • •

MLS degree from an ALA accredited library school or relevant experience and study Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in public libraries or museums Experience designing and implementing programs for all ages in public libraries

Essential Functions: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Provides leadership through participation on library’s management team and supervision of Learning Experiences departmental staff Assists with strategic planning processes and the design and implementation of annual objectives Hires, trains, coaches, and reviews performance of staff Collaborates with members of administration and management team to ensure successful library operations and services; assists in the development of policies Oversees departmental collaboration with staff throughout the library to coordinate the provision of programs and events to the public Manages budget related to programming and learning spaces Works with Young Adult Services staff to provide spaces and services to patrons in grades 6-12 Works with experiential learning staff to provide hands-on learning spaces and services for all ages Contributes to public service in the library at public service areas Collaborates with the Community Engagement department to support community partnerships and initiatives Collaborates with the Communications and Multimedia Engagement department to share information about library programs and events with the public Collaborates with the Access Services department to provide patron access to collections, including online learning platforms and STEAM kits Maintains current knowledge of library and other relevant fields such as education and technology Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for administration and Board of Trustees Regular and punctual attendance
