Lebanon Opera House (LOH) is a non‐profit arts presenter with an 800‐seat proscenium theater that attracts a wide diversity of local, regional, national and international artists in music, dance, theater and comedy to its calendar. Over 90% of LOH’s shows are community and education based.
The Assistant Director is charged with supporting the Executive Director with all aspects of running a non‐profit performing arts center and taking a lead role in fundraising and box office / volunteer management. This position provides an excellent opportunity to candidates interested in a career in arts administration.
The ideal candidate understands the importance of practical, day‐to‐day operations to the overall success of the organization; prioritizes and executes these tasks efficiently and professionally; anticipates the needs of the organization and its leadership; has executed annual appeals; has a strong history of excellent customer service; is comfortable with information technology management and, with five years experience in this position, able to become an executive director of a similar organization. Primary Responsibilities Development Donor Stewardship and Cultivation Creating stewardship programs. Engaging donors through frequent communication. Implementing donor cultivation strategies and events.
Donor Record Management Executing and tracking annual campaigns, appeals, solicitations, pledges, donations and acknowledgments. Compiling statistical reports and mailing lists. Box Office Management Setting up events, maintain seating manifests, maintain financial records and manage the presentation of events on LOH website and social media. Reconciling ticket sales and the accounting. Developing and maintaining documentation and training material on box office policies and procedures. Scheduling and supervising of box office staff. Training staff in box office policies, procedures and customer service standards. Serving as primary operational liaison with Vendini, LOH’s box office software company. Volunteer Management Supervising LOH’s volunteer base of approximately 200 people. Maintaining volunteer database and organization systems. Scheduling and direction of house managers and volunteer ushers. Training volunteers and handling all volunteer communications.
General Support of the Executive Director Artistic Programming including writing, designing and distributing YES study guides. Marketing including designing and scheduling LOH’s lobby displays. Community Relations including running LOH’s Open Invitation program. Major donor and corporate fundraising. Other programs as needed. Position Requirements Skills & Knowledge A dedication to donor relations. Willingness to work as a member of a team and “pitch in” where needed. Database management. Customer service. Experience & Education Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or experience in performing arts administration preferred.
