Registration & Financial Assistance Registration Information Registration is required in advance of all programs except those listed as drop-in. Payment must be received in order for a customer to be considered registered, and we encourage early registration as all classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes may be cancelled up to one week before the course start date due to low registration, inclement weather, lack of space or lack of an instructor. We’ve had some big changes at the Sonora Community Centre! Did you know you can now create and account, view our programs, search for activities, view facility schedules and register all online? How can I register? • In person at the Sonora Community Centre Payment is required at the time of registration. •
Online 1. Go to www.osoyoos.ca. 2. Click on “Recreation Programs” under the Community tab drop down. 3. Click on “Recreation Registration Online”. 4. Follow the directions to set up your account and complete your online registration. If you have registered for programs or bought a membership with the Sonora Community Centre since September 2017, you will not need to set up an account. Simply phone or visit the Sonora Community Centre to ask for your PIN to be emailed to you. 5. Confirm your registration with your payment within 3 business days at the Sonora Community Centre.
Online Submission Notes • Registrations that have not been paid within the time allotted will be withdrawn. • Registering online will not guarantee your spot in a class until payment and confirmation from staff members has been made. • Registration for day camps or swimming lessons will not be accepted online. The Sonora Community Centre is pleased to accept cash, cheque or interact. What if the program is full? If a program is full we will be happy to place you on a waitlist for the class. There is no charge to be placed on a waitlist. What happens if my program gets cancelled? Should a program be cancelled, a credit will be placed on the customer’s account. If a refund is requested, a cheque will be issued by the Town of Osoyoos.

Swimming Lessons Red Cross Swimming Lessons
0-12 years $60.00/10 sessions Children will learn basic swimming and water safety skills from a certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Please refer to the descriptions below for lesson requirements, descriptions, and lesson days and times. Pre-registration is required at the Sonora Community Centre. Registration for swimming lessons will not be permitted online. Goggles and/or swim aids (ie floaties) are not permitted unless recommended by the instructor. Participants are not permitted in the water before or after their lesson. Red Cross Swim Preschool Sea Otter Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5 years All skills are assisted by the Instructor. Swimmers enter this level when they are 3 years of age. Using games and activities, swimmers learn to open their eyes under water, further develop basic floats and glides, and swim 1 metre. They also learn ageappropriate water safety skills. Swimmers are evaluated based on performance criteria and progress to Salamander once all criteria have been successfully completed. 5:00pm-5:30pm April 3-May 10 (no classes April 17 & 19) 5:00pm-5:30pm May 15-June 14 Red Cross Swim Preschool Salamander Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5 years Swimmers enter this level when they have successfully completed Sea Otter. Using games and activities, swimmers learn to swim 2 metres, further develop basic floats and increase their distance on front and back glide. Front swim and roll-over glide are also included, and swimmers learn appropriate water safety skills such as how to jump into chest-deep water and how to use a lifejacket/Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Safety skills development includes water orientation, safe entries and exits and only swimming when an adult is present. Swimmers are evaluated based on performance criteria and progress to Sunfish once all criteria have been successfully completed. April 3-May 10 (no classes April 17 & 19) 4:30pm-5:00pm 4:30pm-5:00pm May 15-June 14 Red Cross Swim Preschool Sun Fish Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5 years Swimmers enter this level when they have successfully completed Salamander. Using games and activities, swimmers learn to swim 5 metres, increase their distance using buoyant objects, increase their front and back glide with kick, and develop their roll-over glide, side glide and front swim. Safety skills include deep-water skills and use of a lifejacket/Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Safety skills development such as water orientation, safe entries and exits and always asking for permission before going near the water. Swimmers are evaluated based on performance criteria and progress to Crocodile once all criteria have been successfully completed. 5:30pm-6:00pm April 3-May 10 (no classes April 17 & 19)

2-5 years Enjoy the spring air with a walk and a story! Walk along Gyro Park Walkway from Gyro Park to Lion’s Park while stopping along the way to read pages from the “Hungry, Hungry Catapiller”. At the end, there will be a fun themed craft and some nutritious snacks. A great way to spend the morning! Sponsored in part by the Osoyoos Library, this will be the last session of their Story Time program for the year. This is a self guided program but we will close the route at the end time. A family will consist of up to two adults and their children under the age of 19 living in the same household. All passes include access to the weight room, drop-in sports, squash courts, and select drop-in fitness classes. 3 All Annual Passes will include access to select programs at the Sonora Community Centre at a reduced price. Rates are valid from January 1, 2018 - June 1, 2018. Rates will be adjusted annually to reflect the Canadian Price Index effective June 1. 1 2
General Facility Rules and Guidelines Please check in with the front desk before entering weight room, fitness classes or attending drop-in sports. This includes pass holders as well. Please use clean, closed toe shoes while using the weight room or gym. Please be respectful of staff and other facility users. Please put your weights away after use. Staff reserves the right to refuse entry. Persons found not following the rules and guidelines may be asked to leave the facility. Weight Room is open for persons ages 16 years and older. Youth ages 13–15 years may be permitted under the direct supervision of an adult 19 years or older. Children ages 7-13 years may be permitted into the gymnasium during applicable Drop-in times under the direct supervision of a responsible person over 16 years of age.

Weight Room, Drop-in Sports and Fitness Class Information Fitness Classes
We have a variety of fitness classes to suit your needs! Please see below for fitness class days, times and descriptions. Cardio Combo Instructor: Louise Snider Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:45am-9:45am Program will end May 20
This low impact aerobics program offers toning and stretching along with a great cardio work out! A perfect class for beginners or those looking for a class that’s not too intense.
Cardio-Strength Interval Training Instructor: Althea Raum Tuesday and Thursday 8:45am-9:45am Saturday 9:15am-10:15am
A combination class of cardiovascular exercises combined with intervals of strength training using various equipment. This class will target the entire body, with focus on the CORE. This class is suitable for all levels and modifications will be shown.
Weight Room
Monday-Friday 8:30am-8:45pm Saturday 9:00am-4:45pm The Sonora Community Centre houses a fully equipped weight room with a variety of cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights. Drop-in and membership passes are available. Please see page 16 for pricing.

Ice Rentals Ice is available to rent! Ice is booked on a first come, first serve basis and priority is given to facility user groups such as Minor Hockey, Figure Skating and the Jr B Hockey Club. Ice time fills up fast!
