Having left behind a buoyant 2015 in terms of hiring accountancy and finance interim staff the first few months of 2016 has continued to see a steady rise in the demand. Economic recovery always brings about the pressures of hiring quality interim staff to help fuel growth in companies. After the EU referendum in June it is likely that the interim management recruitment market will get busier and more competitive for quality candidates particularly in the London area. Throughout 2015 and so far in 2016 we have not seen a marked rise in day rates caused by increased competition although I anticipate one consequence of the competition will be that the interim talent pool will start to diminish in certain skill areas such as Project Management e:g Those managing large system implementations. In terms of pure financial outlay Interim Managers are still one third the cost of a consultant provided by the large consultancies and top ten accountancy practices which clearly is a major cost saving and a good reason to employ this type of resource.
