Lost and Found David Livingstone was a type of national hero in England in 1864 when he went to explore the interior of Africa. He was gone for such a long time without any word that it was feared he had been captured, was lost, or had died. Henry Stanley mounted an expedition in March of 1871, to go to the interior of Africa to try to find Dr. Livingstone. Finally, on November 10, 1871, Henry Stanley found Dr. Livingstone in the village of Ujiji, near the shore of Lake Tanganyika. 1.
