WHAT WE DO Our program provides campers with stimulating daily activities in a safe, nurturing and fun environment. Campers choose from daily activities designed to develop and support the individual youth’s interests and personal growth. King Kids Camp is an inclusive program that offers a S.T.E.A.M. based curriculum. We also offers literacy, sports, swimming lessons, weekly beach trips and biweekly nature field trips. Campers also will enjoy local performing artists at the Arts and Science in the Park (Riverside Press Park) and the Summer in the City series. THE PROGRAM Our camp is a seven week program. The starting date is July 5th through August 19th. Campers may attend as many as four sessions or as a few as one session. We are open from 8:ooam to 3:30pm with the option of extended day at 5:30pm

A $25.00 non-refundable registration fee is required with the application.



A $50.00 deposit for each session of camp is required at the time of registration.



The deposit will be applied towards the total tuition and will not be refundable after May 27th, 2016.

Kid’s Camp Curriculum Our S.T.E.A.M. based curriculum will allow our campers to explore hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math experiments and projects. To reinforce what we learn, we will visit Natural Science places such as Seacoast Science Center and the Ecotarium. We will also bring in Mad Science of Greater Boston to our Arts and Science in the Park series. At M.L. King Kid’s Camp, each camper has an opportunity to explore a variety of arts and crafts activities to develop selfexpression and individual creativity. Exposure to arts and crafts will take place on-site and off-site at Arts and Science in the Park series. We believe that active kids are happy kids and so we plan activities accordingly. Structured and Informal physical activities are critical components of our camp. Soccer specialists will be joining us!

Through the Arts and Science in the Park series, we will have access to many fine local youth’s entertainers and musicians. We will also experiment with sounds and even build our own instruments!

Summer is for Swimming! M. L. King Kid’s Camp offers Aquatic lessons at the Cambridge YMCA. The YMCA staff are certified Water Safety Instructors/ Lifeguards. Campers also cool off at the local park sprinklers and older campers have the opportunity to swim at the MDC pool on Storrow Drive.

After Camp Supervised Extended Day is available from 3:30 to 5:30pm Monday through Friday for the seven weeks of camp. Kid’s Camp will close at 3pm on Friday August 19th, 2016.

Late Fees All children must be picked up promptly and the end of camp. There will be late fee of $1.00 per minute for each minute you are late after the scheduled pick up time.

In addition, we take weekly trips to local lakes and/or ocean beaches, accompanied by our own certified lifeguards.

How to Apply

As a City of Cambridge camp, we explore our own backyard and the rich cultural resources of Cambridge and Eastern Massachusetts. Offsite field trips may include the Museum of Fine Arts, Children’s Museum and Legoland.

Registration begins on Monday March 14th and is ongoing on a space available basis.

Financial Aid Limited Financial aid is available for income eligible Cambridge resident families. Financial Assistance Application along with income documentation are required. Request for financial assistance due by Friday, May 20, 2016.

Staff M. L. King Kid’s Camp prides itself on hiring caring qualified staff, who are chosen on the basis of creativity, enthusiasm and love for children. Our high standards include commitment to safety. We also bring in various specialists in art, science, music and sports to enhance our theme curriculum. The M.L. King Kid’s Camp staff is certified in CPR and First Aid as well as receiving training in child development and age appropriate curriculum. Camp Ratios: Our staff to child ratio is 1:5 for younger campers and 1:8 for older campers to ensure your child receives the individual attention they need.

Licensing The M.L. King Kid’s Camp is inspected annually to comply with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (105 CMR 430.000) and it is licensed annually by the Cambridge Board of Health.

Meals and Snacks We provide morning and afternoon snacks. All campers must bring a daily lunch. Any specialized diet must be provided by parents.
