How to enter Maah Daah Hey Trail Flickr photo contest 1. Join the official “Maah Daah Hey Trail” group on Flickr if you are not already a group member. http://www.flickr.com/groups/maahdaahheytrail/ a. Membership to Flickr is free. b. The frequently-asked questions page at Flickr can answer questions regarding membership, uploading and sharing photos. http://www.flickr.com/help/faq/ 2. Add your photo(s) to the Maah Daah Hey pool and tag it “MDHTrailContest”. a. If you forget to tag your photo it will be not be entered in the contest. North Dakota Tourism and the US Forest Service are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete entries or technical errors. 3. Upload the highest-resolution image possible. 8”x10” @ 300 dpi (or 1024x768 pixels). 4. Entered photos must be family-friendly. Inappropriate photos will be removed from the group. 5. Information about the photo must include: a. Title of the photo b. Location in state where the photo was taken c. Date photo was taken d. Contest Category e. Name and residence town of photographer 6. Entrant should include contact information in their flickr profile, or frequently check flickr mail, in order to be contacted by North Dakota Tourism for name, address, telephone number and email address. a. Failure to respond to inquiries within three days may result in the disqualification of a winning photograph Contest Rules:
Photos will be judged in 3 categories: o Scenery o Wildlife o Activities Contest is open April 1, 2014 – June 20, 2014. Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. The judges are a panel of North Dakota Tourism Division and USDA Forest Service. The North Dakota Tourism Division and USDA Forest Service retain the sole discretion over the selection of, and decision not to select, any particular entry as the winner. Photos must be taken in the state of North Dakota from or of the Maah Daah Hey Trail or connected trail systems. There is an entry limit of 10 photos per user. Submission of the photo entry is entrant’s guarantee as the photographer and copyright holder of the photo with rights to distribute the image. By entering the contest on the Maah Daah Hey Trail’s Flickr Group Pool and tagging it with “MDHTrailContest” you authorize the ND Tourism Division and it’s authorized marketing partners to use that image in offline and online marketing materials in
perpetuity without any additional honorarium or other form of compensation. Photos will be credited whenever possible. Photographers will retain ownership and all other rights to images Photographer must provide consent of those whose faces are visible in the image and be able to provide proof of consent via signed waiver. Alternative Mail-In Method 1. Photo submissions must be received by June 20, 2014. 2. Photos need to be submitted on CD with a 5x7 or 8x10 print copy Prints do not need to be mounted or framed 3. The following information must be clearly labeled on both the CD and back of the print: Entrant’s name Address Telephone number E-mail address Title of photo Location in state where photo was taken Date photo was taken Contest Category 4. Multiple entries may be included in one mailing; there is no limit to the number of entries allowed per photographer 5. We cannot guarantee that entered photos will be returned 6. Winners of the Maah Daah Hey photo contest will receive: $100 cash prize for first prize in each category. MDH Trail apparel item for second prize in each category. Winners will be announced July, 21, 2014.
