supplies is running low. To ensure we can maintain your water supply throughout the summer period and keep interruptions
Make every drop count Please conserve water on this supply Due to recent weather conditions and demand on the water supply increasing to a critical level, the stream used as the source for the Hampden and Moeraki water supplies is running low. To ensure we can maintain your water supply throughout the summer period and keep interruptions to a minimum, please conserve water until further notice. Please take the following measures to conserve water: •

Please don’t wash your cars and boats.

Please don’t refill your swimming pool.

Please ensure all taps are turned off thoroughly to avoid any dripping.

Please don’t water your lawns and garden. If you need to water your vegetable garden, please do it with a hand-held hose.

Please put a plug in the sink when washing your dishes and vegetables.

Please run your washing machine and dishwasher when it is fully loaded.

Please turn off the tap when brushing your teeth or shaving.

All commercial users are requested to minimise usage.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience over this period. For more information on the supply, or if you have any questions, see over the page.

If you have any concerns To ensure the water supply is maintained for everyone in Hampden and Moeraki over the summer period, it’s important everyone plays their part. When people waste water, or remove water restrictors to get more water, it impacts on everybody by reducing the amount of water that is available. We have a Water Supply Bylaw which is designed to protect the community from water wastage and theft. If you have concerns about water use in your area, please call us on 03 433 0300. Please note, we have recently started undertaking restrictor inspections in Hampden and Moeraki to make sure customers are receiving the right amount of water.

Improvements to the supply We are currently taking steps to improve the Hampden and Moeraki water supplies through: •

Installing a new water main from Hampden to Moeraki

Connecting the supplies to the Oamaru water supply by building a new pipeline from Oamaru to Hampden. This will provide Hampden and Moeraki with water that meets the NZ Drinking Water Standards, and will also significantly improve the security and continuity of supply. This project is expected to be completed by August 2018.
