Man Charged with Murder in Stabbing Death 17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young today announced that formal charges of first-degree murder and menacing have been filed against Jeffery Alan Banworth DOB 12/02/62. Banworth is charged with first-degree murder (F1) in the Dec. 20 stabbing death of Ryan Christopher Siefford DOB 03/05/82 at the Pace Setter Motel at 14291 E. Colfax Avenue in Aurora. Banworth also is charged with two counts of menacing (F5). Banworth appeared in Adams County Court today for advisement of the charges. His preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on February 21 in Division E. Banworth is held without bond.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual committed a crime under Colorado Laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
