MARKETING AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR POSITION DESCRIPTION The Marketing and Outreach Coordinator in Advising & Career Services (ACS) at Portland State University (PSU) provides strategic direction, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies and initiatives utilizing best practices within the university setting. The coordinator will develop a marketing plan for the office and coordinate design, creation, and production of promotional materials (including, but not limited to fliers, newsletters, website, and social media). This is a temporary, part-time position through June 2017 and is non-benefits eligible. The Coordinator will be expected to work approximately 30 hours/week. Flexibility in work hours is expected and is dependent upon timing of the department’s events. The Coordinator will be required to work more hours during certain time periods (i.e. during career fairs). This is a nonrenewable position and may not exceed 1,039 hours for the assignment. Pay: $22.50 per hour Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS with 3+ years of experience in marketing and communication Proven ability to achieve desired outcomes in a complex organizational environment Willingness to work flexible hours to complete tasks Highly effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Experience with website planning and design Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and InDesign) Preferred Qualifications: Master’s with 1+ year of related experience Experience in higher education Knowledge of Drupal content management system Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) tools Duty Description: ● Develops a comprehensive and strategic marketing and public relations plan for ACS which supports and enhances department goals. ● Responsible for developing, writing, creating and distributing correspondence and notifications to the PSU community (students, staff, alumni, and faculty) and employers regarding ACS events and services including maintaining or supervising social media, printed material and website content. ● Collaborate with PSU stakeholders to ensure marketing and outreach initiatives are consistent with the PSU brand and comply with University branding, marketing, communication and technology standards. ● Develop and manage appropriate marketing budget in consultation with Office Manager and Interim Director.

Manage the completion of department marketing materials with approved vendors to include establishment of deadlines. Mentor and supervise student employee(s) who assist with advertising, marketing, social media, and/or graphic design. Analyze and evaluate marketing and public relations strategies and data for effectiveness and success at reaching the PSU student population. Maintain knowledge of current marketing, communication, and technology theories, best practices, trends, and campaign examples. Work with ACS leadership team to establish priorities. Provide oversight and content management of website and social media sites. Serve as main public relations liaison to media and the Portland State campus. Manage multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions while keeping a keen attention to detail
