Smoke Incident at MES

As you may already be aware, there was a smoke incident in a classroom at MES this morning. You may hear about this from your children since they were evacuated from the whole school and first responders, including the fire department, did enter MES. The smoke condition in the classroom was caused by a small electrical transformer in the classroom heating and cooling unit that overheated. The fire department, along with our Operations staff, worked quickly to remedy the issue and clear the room’s air of the smell from the overheated unit. Students were allowed to re-enter the school after the air was tested by the fire department and deemed the school safe for occupancy. Going forward, our Operations staff will be working to remediate the heating and cooling unit in that classroom so that it functions properly. Please know that we care deeply about the safety of your children. Our safety plans worked very well today in coordination with our school staff, the Marlborough Police Department, the Marlborough Fire Department and the Milton Fire Department. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Mrs. Walsh at your convenience. Enjoy your evening.
