Matt Sanders, Midlothian ISD Board Vice-President Matt Sanders serves educational, hospitality and medical complexes every day in his job with the second largest drywall manufacturer in the country. This daily contact and his frequent travels allow him to assess what other school districts around the country are doing and “find districts that we want to be like.” Mr. Sanders keeps up with the latest trends around technology, school funding and teacher pay although he cautions, “everyone has different opinions and what’s best for one district may not be the best for another.” The key for Sanders is listening, asking probing questions, and learning from others. Sanders uses the experiences that he gains from serving other districts to provide insight to how best to serve the residents of Midlothian. But he is guided by the desire to make sure that Midlothian continues to maintain the culture of our unique town. Mr. Sanders grew up in Richardson and attended Texas Tech University where he played on the golf team. His Tech connections also led to his discovery of Midlothian after his college roommate married a Midlothian girl who had a sister. Sanders moved here in 1996 after he married the former Leah Maxwell, a third generation Leah, Maddie, Dawson and Matt Sanders resident. They have two children—Dawson, a Heritage junior, and Maddie who attends Walnut Grove Middle School. Sanders continues to play competitive golf at various tournaments across Texas and also enjoys hunting and snow skiing.
