Media Interview Opportunity IWK Foundation reminds Maritime Community “patients and families are counting on us.” Wednesday, October 4 (Halifax, NS) Today, the IWK Foundation released a “Letter to the Community” that was published in several print dailies and communities including the Chronicle Herald and their community newspapers through an in-kind contribution. Please see iwkfoundation.org/accountability. The letter highlights that the IWK Foundation is a not-for-profit organization governed by a separate Board of Trustees that works with its community and supporters to raise funds to support the most urgent priorities of the IWK Health Centre. “Maritimers can be confident that their donations go directly to support patient care and not the day-to-day operations of the IWK Health Centre.” Donations help purchase specialized equipment and fund research, programs and new facilities. The letter further acknowledges that while the IWK Foundation “has had a year filled with remarkable milestones and celebrations, the last few months have been very difficult for both the IWK Health Centre and the IWK Foundation,” leaving the Foundation “deeply saddened.” It is signed by Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO, IWK Foundation; Steven Moore, Chair, IWK Foundation Board of Trustees and former Chairs of the IWK Foundation Board of Trustees.
