Media Release Beaverton Woman Intentionally Sets Fire to Own Condominium October 13, 2017 – A Beaverton women was arrested for arson after intentionally setting fire to her own condominium. Another occupant was forced to jump from a second story window to escape. On October 13, 2017, at 12:43 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residential fire at the Tanasbrook Condominiums, located in the 1500 block of Northwest Tanasbrook Court in Beaverton. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Hillsboro Fire Department personnel responded and immediately began battling the fire and ensuring the safety of nearby residents. During the initial investigation, deputies learned the fire had likely been set intentionally by a resident inside her own condo. The suspect, 35year-old Brooke Shaver of Beaverton, fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies quickly converged on the area and began searching for Ms. Shaver. An alert deputy located her walking in the Safeway parking lot about three-quarters of a mile from the fire location and took her into custody. She was uninjured. Another occupant inside the condo jumped from a second story window to escape the flames. He was transported by Metro West Ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries. Ms. Shaver was arrested and charged with arson in the first degree. She is being held at the Washington County Jail on $250,000 bail. Her booking photo will be available later this evening. Sheriff’s office detectives specially trained in arson investigations are working closely with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue investigators to process the crime scene.
