Dear Morristown Business: Great News! Because of last year’s success the Town of Morristown has, once again, granted the Morristown Partnership and Morris Arts permission for a town-‐wide sidewalk permit the last Thursdays in May (26), June (30), July (28) and August (25) for events associated with Meet Me in Morristown. Rain Dates: Fridays in May (27), July (1), July (29) and August (26). This exciting ‘happening’ will allow for Morristown businesses to operate sidewalk sales or demonstrations in front of their businesses. It will also allow for artists and musicians to support the event by setting up at alternate locations around the downtown. Morristown Partnership and Morris Arts will host a main entertainer on The Morristown Green in the evening. Note: All non-‐business participants will be juried; their locations will be placed as not to conflict with existing businesses’ footprints, including sidewalk cafes. Event marketing will promote the following general timelines; we will post any information provided to event organizers on the Morristown Partnership website via the URL www.meetmeinmorristown.com. Morristown Businesses-‐Sidewalk Sales: 11:00am – 8:00pm Arts and Entertainment: 5:00pm – 9:00pm By combining the business and arts communities, we hope to make Meet Me in Morristown a successful event that will promote and encourage more people to come to the downtown area to shop and dine on the last Thursdays of the month during May, June, July and August. Selected local visual artists will set up their tables to showcase and sell their art. Busker musicians will dot the downtown area providing a lively, authentic and unique experience. There will be no fees to participate in the event, but organizers will require businesses to submit a participation form that includes a hold harmless agreement. We encourage your business to be creative; consider serving light refreshments, hosting a contest or a vendor trunk show! Feel free to call our office if you’re stuck for ideas. Things to remember: -‐ Return the ‘Meet Me in Morristown’ participation form to the Morristown Partnership. This is how we will promote your in-‐store promotion or activity and appropriately place musicians and artists. -‐ Your set-‐up must allow for at least a 10ft pedestrian walkway on the sidewalks. Use your best judgment for pedestrian safety. -‐ Your table or rack space must be limited to your storefront only. -‐ You are not permitted to prepare or sell FOOD outside, unless proper permissions are obtained from the Town of Morristown’s Division of Health. Please contact them directly (973) 796-‐1975 with questions. -‐ In the event of rain, all outdoor events will be cancelled; businesses are welcome to continue their scheduled activities in-‐ store. Morristown will be joining some of the country’s most livable towns by using arts and culture to promote and strengthen our downtown economy. Thank you for your support!
