2018 State Legislative Agenda Staff Resource(s): Randy Harrington, Management and Financial Services Dana Fenton, City Manager’s Office Time: 45 minutes Explanation § Every year, the City Council adopts a state legislative agenda to guide its advocacy efforts before the North Carolina General Assembly. § The agendas focus upon issues that are apt to be considered in the second year of the 2018 General Assembly. § An overview of the issues included in the proposed legislative agendas will be provided. Future Action Council action will be requested at the March 26, 2018 business meeting.

Special Events Permitting Changes Staff Resource(s): Debra Campbell, City Manager’s Office Nan Peterson, Engineering and Property Management Time: 15 minutes Explanation § In March 2017, City Council requested that the Economic Development Committee review opportunities to strengthen community partnerships with and impact of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) basketball tournament. § An update will be provided on progress made to address the permitting process for special events. § The Economic Development Committee received an update during the February 20, 2018 meeting.
