Mind Power: Reprogramming Your Subconscious with Repetition There are only 2 ways of reprogramming your subconscious: ● Spaced repetition over time ● Strong emotional impact Mental training is a form of spaced repetition over time, and sometimes using emotional impact, that really improves the efficiency of the repetition. It is used today in lots of areas from leadership development to the elite sport. The reason for using these methods is simple: they work! But how and why do they work? Research (Benjamin Libet and others) have shown that all our decisions, including conscious decisions, are initiated at a nonconscious level. So, if we want to influence our actions, we should affect the brain at this level. To do this, there are a number of different techniques, the socalled positive thinking, autosuggestion, and the more advanced methods involving selfhypnosis and meditation. For change of paradigms, positive thinking by itself is far from enough. What the common man calls as positive thinking in this context can be compared with a pile of dung with icing. Just because you desperately try to think positively when dealing with a situation or a thought, does not mean you will be able to change your paradigm. Why? Simply because there are so many more times when your old inner dialogue will be continuing its old pattern, trying to prevent you from changing. One example is my neighbor who sincerely believes he is thinking positively, He is completely into the idea that he is a positive man. From the outside, actually, he has so much bitterness and anger bottled up deep within that he affects many around him negatively, often. His health is far from good. He is overweight and his joints are giving up etc. He is completely unaware of the extreme amount of negative expressions that jump out of his mouth, compared to the positive. Even when I comment on this and make him aware of it, it doesn’t take many minutes before he falls back into the old pattern. Successful goal achievers free up time to install better paradigms that help them do their actions easier, faster and happier. Such time does not just come and land in one’s lap. Time has to be made available by you! We all have 24 hours. Focus on what makes you approach your goals in the most effective way.
Recall why repetition was needed. Because you go off on thought trips every now and then, you get associations and, thus, you lose out a large portion of what you are listening to, or hearing or reading. That’s the main reason for repetition to get all the information in. The other effect of repetition is that you get to repeat the information with a new knowledge, a new understanding, another perspective that may deepen your understanding substantially while repeating. We can change our selfimage or paradigm with the repetition of new information again and again and again. It may not be logical, but, it is absolutely necessary! Repetition is the mother of all knowledge. If you want to read more on this and other similar topics; come, check out our blog at http://agoldenopportunity.com/
