SALT LAKE CITY and HOUSTON (Sept. 25, 2017) –Momentum ™ Indoor Climbing opens its second Houston area location Momentum Silver Street on Saturday, November 18, 2017. The 43,000 square foot full-service bouldering gym and training facility located in Houston’s Washington Avenue Arts District (2000 Edwards Street) is one of the largest bouldering gyms in the world. Momentum Silver Street’s grand opening kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. followed by climbing and other festivities like a DJ, raffles, food trucks, and craft beer offerings from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. People will have an opportunity to climb at Momentum Silver Street before its grand opening; the facility will be open for limited hours November 11 – 17. (See schedule below.) A 10-day zeroenrollment membership special and gym tours starts November 10. There will be a climbing party that evening from 6 – 11 p.m. that is exclusive to Momentum Silver Street and Katy members. Pre-grand opening hours: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday, November 10 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov.12 Noon - 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 – Friday, Nov. 17 Momentum Silver Street’s regular operating hours start Sunday, Nov. 19 and are weekdays 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Weekend hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Designed to mirror the urban architecture of this historic downtown area, Momentum Silver Street, which was once a beer distribution center warehouse, offers plenty of natural light for its eight climbing zones that include top-out boulders, a 180-foot long world-cup-inspired sector, and a climbing specific training area. Other amenities include an enclosed cardio room, yoga studio, dedicated children’s climbing areas, and a social lounge/workspace area. -more-

The gym is also home to the world’s second REI Co-op Climb store offering a wide assortment of gear and clothes as well as programs to help people transition to outdoor climbing. “The Washington Avenue Arts District is experiencing a vibrant revitalization and Momentum Silver Street will add another unique element and experience to the neighborhood,” said Jeff Pedersen, Momentum’s co-founder and CEO. “We can’t wait to unveil our latest creation and share it with Texas climbers both current and future.” Momentum Silver Street is the latest addition to a fast-growing area of art workspaces, restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping, loft spaces and entertainment like live music and art festivals. The warehouses in the Washington Avenue Arts District that once served as a business center for downtown Houston are now home to hundreds of artists and creative entrepreneurs. The revitalization that began a little over three years ago has focused on preserving the area’s history and architecture.
