We have the message of the prophets, a promise that is completely reliable! Pay attention to it, like you would pay attention to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1
Morning Star people are on the leading edge of the New Day.
Wherever they go, the Dawn follows and the darkness recedes.
Our God and Saviour Jesus Christ makes things right! His “righteousness” gives us this precious faith! His divine power has given us everything we need for a life that becomes like His in character. Through His own glorious goodness He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that we can brighten into His divine nature” and “escape the corruption darkening this world.” 2 Peter 1.1-4
Morning Star people are “being brightened” by God’s promises for the future
instead of “being darkened” by the world’s corruption, the demands of “now”
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness … knowledge … self-control … perseverance … godliness … mutual affection … love. For if these things are growing in you, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive 2 Peter 1.5-8

Morning Star people won’t stay the same: As the darkness recedes and the sky grows brighter, Morning Star people grow bright with it.
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even disowning the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they themselves have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. 2 Peter 2.1-3
Disowning the authority of the real “Lord” Instead of real Good News, “stories they made up” Becoming their own “lord” – “arrogant, despise authority”
Promising freedom, but giving slavery
Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.
