Did You Know The “new car smell” is composed of over 50 volatile organic compounds.

I’m about to say the following with a smile – Its August. Not because it’s Lady’s Month, but because it means it is September soon, and September brings the birds, bees and beautiful flowers. From what I heard, this is the month when love blossoms…now back to business.

Welcome to the 27th edition of Movere Digital Magazine. It’s awesome delivering another fun filled edition for you in order to present what is currently happening in and around Cape Town. Sharing pictures and information about the Cape Fraternity.

It has somewhat been a quiet month for all. Less happening on the streets due to the time of year we find ourselves in. But this didn’t stop everyone. There were still folk who joined the parks-offs that

was happening. This time is the year breakfast runs are the most fun things to do.

This month we have to Three Black Cars, Three Black Jap Cars, Three Black Jap Coupe Cars – which just makes this edition so special. It’s weird, we have one from Toyota, Nissan and one from Honda. Such a lovely combination. We have something special planned with these three cars in the future. Just keep posted to Movere in the next two months. Oops, then there is the bass booming G5 from Hoosain Kader. Such a silent killer on the streets. Right on Hoosain.

This month we are celebrating Women’s Month. We will be doing our thing for the ladies with Movere CMC. Yip! We’re back at it. Model shoot with ladies and

their cars. And this year, for the first time, we will allow the guys to join the fun too. Keep posted to social media for more information. Before I forget, there is something else we have up our sleeves for the ladies next month. But check it out in the Flower Power Edition next month.

We will too be assisting Charity. We will be helping little Rhyen, a 10 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy. More information will be made public on our social platforms. For now, make sure you’re connected to us on all our social platforms, on order to stay updated with information as soon as it is made public. Remember to check the website for the calendar in order to know events that will be going down in Cape Town.

NEVER MISS ANOTHER EDITION Catch up with pictures and updates on our website. Don’t forget to subscribe and stay updated monthly on the latest content.

The Cape’s Car Clubs:

Cape Polo Crew

Recently, I discovered a little “write-up” about the perception around the dynamics of a car club.

Our experience of these people, and we can agree that, “they are but humble humans.”

Apparently, politics is the word of the day coupled with a few power struggles and egos and even money. This is apparently the reason for the dissolution of many movements. We sat back with a big smiles at these ranting’s of “not so beautiful minds” in our opinion and ask, “but, were you there, or did you throw donkey ears?”

There are so many demotivating and negative comments being spread about a scene that people claim to love, and so many ideas of what should be done to change it for the better. However, what have those very erratic soundboards done to effect any of the, “solutions to fix something that is apparently broken?” There are so much bragging about back in the day and disrespect to others’ possessions - and for us, reading about all this eludes to material of cars, leaving one with this thought, “but was there a purpose?”

This month we bring you a positive spin on perceptions, ideas, rumours and not to discredit anything, but to rather fuel a paradigm shift. Did you know that CPC is a registered NPC, comprising a group of young people with very few vehicle modifications albeit, cosmetic or engine changes to their little VW Polos. Did you know that the composition of its members is largely a group of diverse young professionals with personal backgrounds and circumstances that would put many older people on their asses as a test of resilience?

Here at CPC, we have taken a love of a blik which just so by the way in case we have all forgotten can be lost in a blink of an eye; we have added a little bit of purpose for ourselves. Emphasis on ourselves not others. We say this because perhaps instead of pointing out so quickly what others do “wrong” in a scene/fraternity, perhaps we should

start focussing on our own tribes, our fusion, what makes us tick, what works for us a group. We use the term group just because there are many people in a group with the same interest, it certainly does not make them a team. Having said that, we want to leave you with this thought - if your season of life had to come to a sudden end, will you be remembered for the BLIK you drove, or for the impact you have made on the life of another? Remember – be the change you want to see. Just a kind reminder - we are hosting a car show for the daughter of a couple in one of our fellow car clubs – because, what is Charity if it does not begin at Home? We hope to see you there. Please keep a lookout on the social media lines - it’s going to be an exciting one. For more information you can check out the tm7. co.za website, for the Calendar section, where you can read more about the event.

The Cape’s Car Clubs: On the 29 July 2017 the Dub Familia attended and supported a Park-off which was hosted by JapMotion and Allies Wheels. It was a stunning a well orchestrated event. We wish to thank Japmotion for inviting us and we look forward to working with them in the not to distant future.

Early morning breakfast run to Franschoek

The Dub Familia won a third place prize for best club turnout at this event which we are very proud of. We are positive that we will be receiving many more trophies as long as we continue with the great work we are doing. Another prize is that we even managed to recruit a new member at this park-off as well. So all in all it was a blessed evening for the Dub Familia. Aaron (our Daredevil) also took part in a rev off, unfortunately he did not walk away with

any prizes, but he did us proud. On Sunday, 30 July 2017, we had a Breakfast run through to Franschoek. It was a very early start to that morning, with us assembling and the Dubshed (Dub Familia Clubhouse) at 7am. We then proceeded to meet with a few other members at Engen 1-Stop on the N1. From there we convoyed to Franschoek continued through the Franschoek pass. There was some very heroic and brisk driving and we even managed to witness a front wheel drive car drifting (yes, you read that right). We then continued through to Grabouw and ended off in Somerset West, where had a bite to eat at Monkey-Town. We have quite a bit planned for the second semester of 2017. In Au-

Dub Familia gust we plan on having a club Photo Shoot, some ten pin bowling (maybe Jetta drivers vs Golf drivers) and we also intend on supporting and providing assistance to a childrens home that we previously assisted earlier this year. Seeing that spring is around the corner we also plan on supporting as many car shows that we can. We have a few creative club displays planned and we firmly believe that we will definitely be strong contenders in the club display competitions. So watch this space. For anyone that is keen on joining our familia, please join our facebook group – Dub Familia. So that you can stay posted. Yours in front wheel drive drifting and scraped sumps.

The Dub Familia won a third place prize for best club turnout at the JapMotion Park-off

The Cape’s Car Clubs: As you might have heard or perhaps seen on social media - Havok Squad is at it again. And this time we have partnered up with the guys from Detuned and you know these guys are bringing that new flavour to the car scene in Cape Town, to bring you the most exciting Dyno Day event to date. This event dubbed Power Struggle, will be hosted on the 12th August 2017 at Protech Auto Services in Montague Gardens - Unit 1B Station Rd Montague Gardens. The event kicks off at 1pm till late, and we would like to invite all car clubs and petrol heads to attend this high energy petrol head fiesta of dyno runs to determine the most powerful club, and vehicle in Cape Town. We are happy to announce that we have secured great sponsors, so prizes are of top quality as you know we always try our best, and we are truly grateful for this. We have also confirmed the attendance of awesome car fraternity celebrities SUCH AS Brandon Almazan and his profit mk1 Golf that will be doing

exhibition dyno runs on the day. There will be great Food and beverages on sale, Music and entertainment, raffle prizes, and brand marketing. Protech Auto Services will also be raffling a Dasteq Unchip and the proceeds of this will be donated to charity. The idea of the event is for your club to pitch up and place each members’ car on the rollers. All your power will be calculated as a collective toward your clubs total. The club with the highest number at the end of the day will be crowned the most powerful club in Cape Town. There will also be individual prizes for those who do not ride with a club. All of this action will kick off at 1pm, so you have no excuse to be missing out on the fun. We urge all car clubs to take part, and to come and claim their right to boast as the most powerful club in the Mother City. We look forward to seeing all our fellow petrol heads and car enthusiasts at this exhilarating event. Be sure that your clubs numbers are up and that you

Havok Squad pull up in full force to take the crown. Get your tune ups sorted because on the day it’s all about the kilowatts. Let’s hear those engines screaming with turbo’s and open throttles. This will be an event for all to participate, high and low power vehicles all welcome. Too keep up to date, stay tuned and keep following, the Havok Squad and Detuned pages, alternatively search “Power Struggle” on Facebook, mark yourself as going and we will keep you informed. The Cape’s Car Clubs:

Honda Republic Squad

Hi guys we’re back again this month to fill you in on what went down in HRS over the past month. We will also tell you about what events we attended and there’s a small surprise, but I will save that for later in the article. July has been a rather silent month with car events, but we at Honda Republic Squad managed to keep busy. We had a small meeting at N1 City where we hooked up for the first time in this cold winter. Honda Republic is now twenty three members strong and we are quite happy. Honda Republic Squad is not just a car club but we are a family and we believe this is what will make our club last long. Loyalty and respect plays a big role in our club and we also believe in supporting other car clubs, be it at events or charity runs. We will send out a notification on our Facebook Group (Honda Republic Squad (CT)) when we will be recruiting people. Remember any model of Honda is welcome. Honda Republic Squad

also attended the soup run hosted by a group of Honda clubs. This was to show that the Honda family doesn’t only come together on H-Day, but they come together when people are in need. They travelled to various communities giving out soup and bread - they also gave away blankets and clothes to people in need. We at HRS don’t only attend car events but also events where we can give back to the community. On Sunday the 23 July we attended a Park-off at Westgate Mall. Here different car crews came together and we all contributed food, clothes and blankets to two families in need.

and help people. If you would ever like to donate anything to the families in need you can go on to Facebook and contact them at “The hoppers”. So we’re saving the best for last. As you know I did say I have a surprise in the beginning of the article well here it goes. Next weekend, Honda Republic Squad will be at an event in Town. SWAT is hosting an event on the 5th of August, five of Honda Republic Squad’s cars will be on display; so please come out and support. In our next article we will give you feedback as to who the five cars were and different specs about the cars. Please come out and support, it will really be appreciated. Remember always stay safe on the roads and keep living the lowlife.

The one family was from Steenberg and the other from Mitchell’s plain. Both families lost everything in a fire and it was amazing to see how various car clubs can come together

The Cape’s Car Clubs: Welcome back to another fulfilled article in the life of #LadyownersCT. As mentioned in our previous article we were planning a blanket and soup run. In July that is exactly what we did. Our crew hit the streets of Kalfontein in Kuilsriver with a few pots of soup, bread and blankets. This was a heart-warming and humbling experience to us. A wake up call and reminder that we have so many things to be grateful for, yet we complain daily. Seeing the smiles on the adult and kiddies faces brought so much joy. The heart breaking part was when the soup run out and we had to turn people away. What was fun about this day was having the kiddies join in the fun. They helped to butter bread and hand over soup to o the kiddies who were

in need. We firmly believe that the kids in our crew should be trained young and be exposed to low socio-economic area for them to realise how grateful they should be. These experienced also help build their character by teaching them to be compassionate, caring and humble.

will usually look at is your teeth.

August is the month of women! We as a crew were invited to join a women’s day event in Wellington to manage the tug of war activity. It was requested of us because we are known to give the guys a run for their money in tug of war. We are a crew filled with ladies and share a great passion to empower, support and uplift ladies around us. Not only in the car scene, but in daily activities or responsibilities. With some of our members who have their own families we are aware of the daily challenges females face.

She enjoys working in underprivileged or low socio-economic areas to offer a service to those who cannot afford the private sector. Her favourite colour is red. She drives a 2000 1.6 Honda Civic that is champagne in colour, therefore her Honda is knows as “bubbly.”

This month we are featuring this month Meagan, better known as MeagieVee. She’s an oral hygienist, based on her occupation and experience we can tell the first thing she

There are no major modification done to her car. Currently bubbly is basically stock apart from having a powerful exhaust, filter and spoons rims. There are modifications in the pipeline. We don’t have any big events planned, but we are aiming to support many other clubs with their events. Please don’t hesitate to ask us to join in with events that are coming up. We will try our best to support.

The Cape’s Car Clubs: Do you feel that? The energy, the excitement, the suspense - “That Moto Madness” madness is in the air! We’re getting ready for Motor Madness V2. Hope to see you at least a few of your ladies and gents on 30 September in Bothasig. We hope you’re all keeping warm In this icy weather and keeping your hearts open to those that are less luckier than We All are! We have been extremely busy behind the scenes (admins and members)

preparing for our upcoming show: Motor Madness 2.0 (we held our first show last year December 2026) and we plan to improve on our previous show, go big or go home right? The show will be held at Tafelberg High School in

Opel Squad LTD

Bothasig. Gates open at 9am sharp. We’ll be having sound off, show and shine, rev off and much more. Food stalls, entertainment - you name it and Motor Madness will have it. All of this for charity, you know, the OSL way of life. So please come and support on the day and enjoy the awesome time with us for family fun in the sun. And we won’t forget to keep the kiddies entertained. We have some amazing sponsors and prizes so you would definitely not want to miss out. On Friday 28th July were helping out a well deserving couple with their wedding - OSL style with convoy and the works. We were excited to help the couple. We wanted to give them the wedding they deserved. And it so happened to be. We were cooking soup and collecting bread to hand out to the homeless. We did a soup run to an industrial area of Athlone where we were greeted by hundreds of children and adults.

Wow heartbreaking to say the least, but the smiles all around when tummies were filled was all so worth it. Keeping our OSL spirit alive the way we like it. Here at OSL we don’t only

like to attend the shows and support our feelings car junkies. We also Love to give back to our communities, we need to recognize the problem. Out there and we need to help regardless of the circumstances that caused it. We should learn to stick together and work as a team to help those who have no Means of helping themselves. We’ll keep it short and sweet and leave it at that. Any questions, feel free to contact us and we hope to see you all there! Now, we need to get back to work. Opel Squad Limited out (drops mic).

KITME

The little things in life we easily tend to forget

The rotten apples in the basket will result in you rotting yourself. We need to start removing the negative people from our lives. Birds of a feather, flock together. In the previous edition of Movere, we have mentioned that in this three part article, we will be addressing something which can be relevant to some individuals. One might not currently be in this position, but taking mental note of your life and current position in it, could be a wakeup call after reading these articles. Negativity is something

we find ourselves surrounded by on a daily base. We cannot run from it, and we cannot hide. Therefore, we should address and attend to it, making sure that this doesn’t “negatively” influence our lives.

read all about noticing these individuals, and using situations that might shed light on these so called negative people, friends, colleagues and even team mates. This is why we know a few things about them.

If you haven’t read the previous article, make sure you jump on our website and download the July 2017 Edition of Movere Digizine.

Ways to find these individuals, and to identify them is easy. Remember, we are trying to remove the negative people from our lives. But before we can take action and remove them, we have to know

In last month’s edition we

who they are, why they are negative, and how they can influence you. Knowing why we should remove them is the easy part. We can actually say that it is quite obvious. Summarizing the previous article, we know these individuals are the energy suckers, which totally discredit you when you wish to uplift yourself. They are the one who complain and gossip the most – no wonder they are so jealous. As result, this makes then worry a lot in their life. Therefore, these pessimists we need to get rid

of as they are the underachievers which makes excuses for everything gone wrong in their life, rather than to do something about it. Strange enough, as they play the victim in almost all the situations, they wish to the change you and the bigger and stronger person you might becoming.

“... These people are the underachievers in life, whom has limited experiences and has the least amount of success...”

Since these negative beings influence you more on a spiritual and moral state, does the negativity tend to go deeper than ones psyche, and from here, it starts to materialize on the physical plain called life. Being in a negative state, is a mental condition, or mood we tend to be in – and being negative, one can easily change this state. But if it has been going on for far too long – then it becomes more difficult to remove yourself from this mood you find yourself in, sim-

Movere’s KitMe

Reminding you about

the basics…

ply because you become accustom to it – without noticing. Your mental health will take a negative spiral. You will slowly but surely start becoming emotionally drained, and at times, mentally unstable. This explains where some of the anxiety attacks derive from. All due to you being in an anxious state all the time.

Misery then isn’t too far off from this. Like they say, misery loves company. Let us not forget the statement which opened this article – birds of a feather flock together. With our mental health flushing down the toilet, other sectors, part of our emotional awareness will start to vanish. This is why one could then start to have a lack of motivation

and self-confidence. But it doesn’t stay there. Negative people, who has found themselves in such a state, for an extensive period, become egoistical. They become manipulative and controlling. Now it makes sense as just too why they complain a lot. They are they “naysayers” in life. They would rather live in the bad

circumstances as to do something about it. Now we know why they gossip behind your back and make excuses for the way things have turned out in their lives. Once again coming back to the point of taking a downward spiral in life. Does it make sense as to why they regularly have fights and troubles with others? In most cases,

they play the victim. It brings us to the point as to why they constantly lie, become jealous and judgmental. Taking all of the above into consideration, it provides us a clear understanding that these negative individuals, result as pessimists. They would more likely see the bad things in life, rather the small and little things

which makes life more worth the while. They sink to the bottom of the ocean. These people are the underachievers in life, which has limited experiences and has the least amount of success. In the following article, we’ll focus on what to do – to remove these folk out of your life, and staying away from them.

“Rock A Fella” - a VW Golf 5 GTi, which one can really call a butt-kicker. Right here for the start, let me inform you, that I will share my true feelings about this car. I will be entirely honest on my views. This is because I have never owned any VW rides, but truly, I for some reason love the brand – and here is one

fine example why. Hoosain Kader is no stranger to the Cape Town Car Show Scene. For those who has been in the industry for some time will remember Kader’s previous ride. This was a show stopper VW Caddy LDV. Unfortunately times change, and Hoosain decided it was time to let go of his Caddy. This was the

time Hoosain decided to sell his Caddy and took ownership of this clean looking VW Golf Mk5 GTi. Hoosain we’ve always known to be a car enthusiasts. With his history in the Cape Car Scene, it would have been talent gone to waste, if Hoosain had to sell the bakkie and leave the scene for good.

Now for jaws to drop to the ground. The previous owner had the 2liter VW tuned through Barons, which at the times only had 3km’s on the clock. The Mk5 was pushing out a healthy 177kW at the time. After driving the car around for 2 months, the Golf was booked in at CPi Turning. This was when the fun began, even though the changes were going to be basic and small. The GTi was then fitted with downpipe and cold air induction. From here, jumping onto the dyno, the results were remarkable. After the downpipe and cold air, the car was now kicking out 184kW. Since the Golf’s heartbeat was pumping some good juices, the next

thing on the cards was to get the beats pumping. Kicker was chosen to increase the bass waves of car by fitting a custom sound setup to the vehicle. To mention to bad news, sadly, the custom setup wasn’t there for long. In January 2017, Mr. Kader paid a visit to the guys over at Sounds Dynamic. This was the

time he left the headquarters of SD without his beloved ride. Fast forwarding two weeks and the Golf was now ready for collection with a new banging sound setup. One that left all speechless. Team SD decided to keep the Kicker SD 6.5 inch splits up front in the doors, but shifted them to the boot where all the new fitment took place. A single 12 inch Rockford Fosgate Prime P2 subwoofer was fitted in a custom sealed enclose, along with a set of Rockford Prime 6.5 splits on both ends, in custom enclosures fabricated into the side walls of the boot. Laser cut Perspex RF grills keep these babies protected. The main attraction,

Hoosain Kader

the Rockford 12 inch subwoofer is powered by a Rockford Prime amplifier. Power to the Kicker splits and Rockford splits is a 4 channel Rockford Prime amplifier. The amps are nearly fitted in a custom enclose build in the floor of the boot. Too much detail to go unnoticed – the boot lit up with blue and red LED’s, highlighting the Rockford brand at night. To make everything even more sweet, the entire setup has been wired up using a Kicker wiring kit. Up front in the cockpit, controlling the entire setup is a Caska D1006 entertainment and navigation unit. The install once again, is impeccably built with great workmanship by Sound Dynamic. With the engine of the Kader’s vehicle sorted, the sound was pumped up by installing a custom sound setup comprising of unites between Rockford and Kicker. Next, it was time to take care of the outside of the car. We know, once we start attending to our vehicle, personalizing it our own way, the bite of the bug leaves a sting – one we have to attend to, and with the history Kader has with cars, there was no way that he will be leaving the outside of the car unat-

tended to. Hoosain opted for a set of 19 inch Audi RS4 reps which were fitted by Lallas Wheels & Tyres in Grassy Park. From there, it was time to attend to the suspension of the car. This will assist with fitting those Audi RS4’s perfectly between the wheel arches. The GTi’s height comes closer the ground via a set of JOM coilover kit – to round off the stance of the Golf. Hoosain then went over to Dent Express in Tokai where the car had some more cosmetic changes applied. The GTi was fitted with a R32 rear diffuser and a R32 back box with a 110mm exhaust tail piece, giving the rear of the car the vicious glare. The side mirrors were finished in gloss black to match the extended rear roof spoiler. A keen eye for attention to detail is a very rare thing to come across nowadays and I can safely say that this is one of the neatest Vw Golf V GTi’s around. No future plans is on the cards for now, as Hoosain is busy with another project. So you better keep an eye for that which Hoosain will soon be sharing with us. We’ll keep you posted on that feature.

Donovan Rudolph

Seeking The LIME #LIMERS

DONOVAN RUDOLPH It’s a year ago since I last saw myself in Movere, and when then opportunity presents itself to be in Movere, everyone I know will jump. That’s why I had to be here again. For the sake of it, I will pretend you guys don’t know who I am. This way we can start with a clean slate. I’m Donovan, the owner of a Silver 2005 VW Polo 1.6 hatchback model. The car is mostly stock. But of course for the love of the Low Life, I have a set of Jom Blueline Coilovers and, currently, 17” Throwing Star BMW Rep Wheels. Oh my, I just hope I will still have them by the time this edition goes out to the masses. I have always had a love for the VW brand. For me it started with VW, and I guess that’s probably why I still have one to date. My first car was a Golf Mk1 1300. From here I then moved to a Mk2 GTi, Jetta Mk2 CLi, Jetta Mk3, Polo 6N, Caddy, to Velociti and at last – my current polo. This is why she had more rims on herself than 30 year old year old men had birthdays. I belong to an Awesome Club called Polo 9N Owners – they are my brothers and sister. I’m happily married to my best friend, Chantal Rudolph who fortunately support my addiction for rims. She currently drives a Polo 6R…with stock wheels. Sorry for the following honey, but LMAO! Sadly my youngest brother youngest brother, also a member of Polo 9N Owners passed away in a car accident last year. I support charity of any kind and love Car shows. The one that I’m looking forward to this year is the annual Dub Auto Fest. I just love my sport, soccer of course and therefore I support the biggest club in England, Liverpool! Other than that, I LOVE Rims! Last year I had 18 sets. For this year, thus far, I’m currently standing on 12 sets by July. I guess one day I will have to quit the wheel game. But if you ask me if I’m ever going to quit, I will have to Say HELL NOOOO!

Seeking The LIME #LIMERS

CLYDE DE KLERK Hi everyone – I’m Clyde De Klerk based in Cape Town (M/ Plain) area driving a Honda Prelude 5th Gen H22 DOHC VTEC (Stock) and I would love to share my experience being the owner for 4 months. For some reason I gathered information about the Prelude when I still had my Honda ballade EK. Finally I decided to purchase me the Prelude with the help of Dylan Micheal’s & Shahied Isaac’s. I received the Prelude with some cosmetic damage and decided to re-spray the car with the help of Hadrain West. Plainstop fitment centre & carwash plays u huge role in Gracey’s looks. Finally “Gracey” was done. I added a few modifications and kept it neat and clean. With the help of Ramzyiano Baker with the lowness. Added some decal stickers from Munier Hendricks to give it that original sporty look. Removed the original tape and replaced it with a double din and added a few extra modifications. The comfort driving a BB6 is a nice experience. Having the 2.2 VTi-R force me to punish the roads specially when I drive to work in Atlantis. The feeling when VTEC kicks in dares you to accelerate more and enjoy the ride. I hooked up with a few guys owning Honda Preludes. They added me into a group “5th gen Owners CT” and we decided to publish the rare Preludes based in CT. Meeting new friends with the exact same car makes things interesting. The 29th of July we had our first hook-up which 7 of the Prelude Owners pitched. We shared our experiences and modifications to another and shared our different ideas classification to update our Ludes. All together we 19 “5th gen Owners” BB6 from CT. 5th Gen Owners has a connection importing parts owned by Carlisle Marankey. Advanced Import Autoparts has all the detail modifications and accessories to Pimp our Ludes. More Preludes will be appearing at events car shows park-offs and charity runs to show our interests helping the car scene.

“...I would like to encourage everyone to continue to make a tangible contribution in the fraternity. Without each and everyone of you, this fraternity would cease to exist...” Welcome to the new month. This has been quite an interesting month with for all of us but more so for us at Movere. We have experienced quite a few things this month that were interesting and conflictual but then again, we are a great team with the good vision. Talking about vision, I have done a lot of soul searching this month in terms of us as Presidents of car clubs. What is our vision and how do we make sure that we include our members in our vision. What do we believe the level of responsibility should be on the part of the members and how exactly do they fit into the

plan for the future? My opinion is as follows. Our members are the most important asset in the club. They are the reason why we do what we do and why the club is a success. I believe in empowering our members as much as we possibly can. Involve them in the decision making and make sure that you understand what their opinions are about things that need to be decided on. The more involved they are, the more interest they will show in the operations of the club. I have a culture in my team where most of the decisions are made by my members and my executives. I always keep

in the back of my mind that the club is not about me and my view only. It is more about the members and what they think and want. If you want happy members and a productive club, you need to make sure that you have the people’s best interest at heart. The vision can be there but it is important for you to get the buy-in from the people who elected to follow your guidance. They are trusting you to lead them to excellence and that is an enormous responsibility. Not only do you have to be neutral in your approach but you also need to ensure that you approach things in the

I think that having people management skills is of utmost importance specifically because you are responsible for a multitude of various personalities and opinions. The way you manage their

expectations is so important. I think that we can learn a lot from one another but we as leaders need to get the conversation started. I envision us as leaders having monthly consulta-

tion sessions to debrief and find out what works for various presidents that we can implement in our clubs. Not only will our clubs grow but so will the scene.

A lovely match that was made in heaven after he took the 86 out for the first drive after he was more keen to go for an STi.

It is always so refreshing when we find new and exciting cars in the scene that has otherwise gone unnoticed, or so we thought. We received an inbox message from this gentleman and oh my were we in for a pleasant surprise. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine a car so great would

emerge from the scene that would give us so much joy to photograph. When we first conversed with the owner, we could immediately feel the passion behind the car that are making a few heads turn. We are pleased to introduce you to Nemesis, a black Toyota 86 that have been roaming the streets of Cape Town

looking all so “stancy”. At first glance, one might say that it is a little stance machine but then we discovered that it also packs some good power under the hood. Johandre, the owner of the Nemesis is and ambitious young man that has discovered his passion for the car scene by simply living by his own rules and no one else’.

He is originally from a small town better known as Bredasdorp, approximately 200km outside of Cape Town. He also stayed in Pretoria at one stage but finally decided to make Cape Town is home.

“... Johandre wasn’t really keen on buying the 86 as he was more interested in the STi but he could recall the first day his friend suggested that he test drive the car just to get a feel for it. ...” When we spoke to Johandre, it was clear that there is something different about his approach to life as well as his approach to the car scene. He is definitely not someone that conforms to the norm. Other than having a passion for cars, he also developed a passion for photography which in most cases is a pretty good combination. I mean just think about all the amazing images that derive from combining your passion for cars with that of photography. We were so lucky and of course very happy to have gotten an opportunity to photograph and

also interview this very busy young man. His car is in pristine condition and the love for her is truly reflected in the way he takes care of it. I think we were even more surprised to find that there was quite a bit done to this car on the inside as well as on the outside and there are many more enhancement to come in future. We sat down with Johandre to understand where it all began for him and why exactly he moved to Cape Town. His answer was very refreshing. He mentioned to us that the life in Johannesburg is very busy. Based on his experiences, he finds that the focus in the area is not always on the pertinent things that can make a tangible different. He went further to say that Cape Town is very relaxed. One can really clear your mind and focus on the things that matters most. When he moved to Cape Town and bought this little 86, he decided to join a club with like-minded individuals that he can share his ideas and passion with. This allowed him to combine his two pas-

sions in order to make an impact on the lives of so many people. Talking to him about the Cape Car Scene was one of those conversations that could probably carry on forever and this is mainly because of this deep-routed passion and love for cars. Johandre is a young man that believes strongly in being different to the rest. To him it’s about expressing your individually in various ways and this is reflected in the way that he has changed his car. The opinions of others have very little impact on the way he does things as well as the decisions he makes. Let’s start by talking about the exterior of the car. He fitted a big boot spoiler that that screams at you when you look at it. It is one of those things that makes this car pop when you see it in a crowd. The eloquent set of custom volk that are fitter to perfection on this car and a set of BC racing coilovers gives this car a perfect drive. Johandre wasn’t really keen on buying the 86 as he was more interested in the STi but he could recall the first

day his friend suggested that he test drives the car just to get a feel for it. He remembers getting into the car and feeling so at home. He took the car for a test drive and one he hit second gear, he was sold, so much so that he bought the car the very same day. That is what we would call love at first drive here at Movere. It was pretty clear that Johandre is someone that knows exactly what he want and when he finds it, he commits wholeheartedly. The one thing that was interesting to find out about this young gentleman is that he is a JDM fan. He likes cars with an unorthodox look. We discussed future plans for the car and the first thing that came up was that fact that he is planning to turbo the car within this year still. He is aiming to kick out about 240kw without changing the motor. During the process of him modifying his car he still maintains particular attention to detail in order for the mods to fit well with his plans as well as his car. One of the fun facts that we discovered about Johandre is that he is actually very much into drifting and the adrenalin of racing. Yes, he does like stancing to a certain extent and when we posed the

question with regards to this, it was pretty much a balance between the two. You might also be wondering why the car is called Nemesis? Well, we found that it stems from his love for gaming where his tag has always been Nemesis which refers to arch enemy. When he took time to think about how to incorporate his gaming into his automotive lifestyle, it was pretty obvious that this would be a suitable avenue to pursue. As we reached the end of our interview, we posed a question to Johandre. We asked him which statement has been significant in his life and has contributed to the way he does things? He made reference to a gentleman who he follows on YouTube that always says: “Keep moving forward”. This is of course such a profound statement in that this is close to how Johandre wants to live his life. Regardless of what life throws at you, just keep moving forward and pursue your dreams and goals. It was indeed such a pleasure to get to know this young man as well as his love for the Cape Car Scene and as always, we will be keeping our ears on the ground in terms of the future plans.

Shaun Ryan Castle

Seeking The LIME #LIMERS

SHAUN RYAN CASTLE Hey all. I’m totally excited and supped up to be here. My name is Shaun Ryan Castle, I am 20 years old. At the moment, I still find myself in the position of a student. But let’s get back to the basic information. I know you might even have some questions. But here goes. I drive a white static Nissan Micra k13. Bbefore the whole stance thing I was very well known in the sound off game with this car. I eventually grew out of it and started making this car the way it is today. It all started with bus tyres, my first rim and cut springs - till I got my hands on a set of coilovers. At the moment the car is fitted with Maxtrac coilies. Over these past months that passed I re-sprayed the car over, flushed the bonnet and the bumper and had me Toyota Yaris spot lights fitted with full HID top and bottom kits. The car is sitting on a sweet 15” 7j Vossen with some 165 rubber. This is currently the 4th rim I had on the car. My future plans with this car is to bag it, flare the arches and have me a customized boot spoiler made. Many people ask me why a Nissan Micra? Well for me this is a very unique car and not many can actually pull this look off on a Micra. If I’m not mistaken, this is the first Micra in the stance scene or correct me if I’m wrong. It is an overwhelming feeling to drive with this car on the road not the fact that it looks good but because it is so nice and smooth. Ps: new look coming soon, so you better look out for that.

Justin Bernhard van Wyk

Seeking The LIME #LIMERS

JUSTIN BERNHARD VAN WYK Hey guys. I have some great news. And that is that I am back with some more information on myself. For those who have read Movere a few months ago will be aware that had my car in there a few editions ago. This is why I am back right now to keep you posted on how things are going my side. Let me remind you of the basics. I am a 19 year old student from Atlantis driving a 2006 VW Citi Golf. So I have had the car for the past 11 months and have made some changes. Although the car is entirely stock standard with a 1.4i engine, have I just added K&N induction. It is sad for me to say that I really wish to do a lot of things to the car. But everyone knows the life of a student is somewhat limited to certain things that needs to be done, as I don’t work yet, and I have to save up before attempting to do something. The car has a set of JOM Blueline coilovers and driving on a set of Velos. I sprayed the rims gold because I just love that look and I went with a set of 175/50/15 Hankook tyres. The next thing on the list is to do C-knots and extended shock mounts to go even more lower. Sound wise I have a 13 500 watt monoblock and Targa XXX 4D subwoofer in the car with a self built superwood box and Pioneer deck. This combination together gave me 138dB at a Show & Shine earlier this year. I still have to make a few changes to the car before the years ends.

In the search of finding a standard 350Z, Adnaan was disappointed when the deal didn’t go through. Being patient, he then found his pot of gold which gave him more than he could bargain for.

In the mist of the cold winter months we currently experiencing in South Africa, was my winter heated up with the lineup cars we have for this month.

After meeting up with the owner, it was clear that any enthusiast’s knees can easily get jello when the owner starts talking about his black pride and joy.

One of the Black Beauties from this edition made it feel like summer for me on the day I finally got to experience this 350z live in action for myself.

Though the car may seem ordinary, or even not much dropped for stance on the naked eye; does the heart of the 350z deliver a powerful punch that will

leave your smile on the boot as the g-forces rush you back into the seat. Adnaan George, an Atlantis resident describes himself as a petrol head, that has had a major collection of a few vehicles on his record. Though there are a few cars that made it onto what he calls his baby list.

The baby list is cars that he handled with true passion and joy. The benchmarks which he set for himself. His very first car was an E36 BMW 318i. For those who can still remember the 1986 models will know the chrome bumpers these models came out with. From there, Adnaan fell in love with the E92. This is why he then made sure to get himself a Twin Cam which was setup for racing back then. Along the way, the bug started biting him even more. It was now a must for Adnaan to upgrade to the next vehicle on his list. The upgrade list wasn’t only about the next or newer model, but it was all about increasing the piston quantity or size. Adnaan happened to mention that he was totally between the clouds on the day he was able to purchase his VR6. “I told myself, all along, the VR6 was a car that

I have always wanted,” Adnaan continues on to say. “Doesn’t matter what people say, and the problems one can regularly expect with these cars, I’ve just always wanted one.” Mr. George mentioned that he isn’t governed to a manufacturing group or country, if he loves the car, and if it is something that he wants, he will start working towards it. “After owning the VR6 for some time, it was time to look out for the next toy to add onto my list. This was when I started looking out for a stock standard Nissan 350z.” In 2016 Adnaan started to browse around for his next toy to add onto his list. Though between the E36, AE92 and VR6 were a whole bunch of other cars, were these cars the benchmark and goals he set for himself to achieve. With the hunt on to find

a 350z, Adnaan came across a stock standard silver 350z. After viewing the car, he went straight home to sort out the finances for the purchase. Pulling up at his place, the owner of the 350z called to provide some bad news. The 350z had just been sold to someone else. Leaving Adnaan heartbroken, it was now time to continue his search and look for something else. As time went by, this black 350z kept popping up on his searches. Since he was looking for a standard car, Adnaan ignored the result and browsed around the car. But then it was like something pulled him to the car. This was when he decided to go and view the car, just for the fact that he isn’t getting what he exactly looking for. “My uncle and I went to go view the car, and upon arriving, at first glanced, I told the owner of the car, the car

is mine!” Adnaan then jumped back in his car, left and not much later came back to pick up the keys of the car. “To my surprise, I would have never thought I would land on such a pot of gold,” Adnaan continues to explain. It was only after time that Mr. George realized he just scored something major. Adnaan was looking for something plain and basic. Spending the same amount of money, he managed to get something he never thought would come his way. The engine of the 350z has totally been rocked up. The car was taken in by Rob Green Motorsport and given extra punch to deliver on the road and track. The conversation consists of Vortech centrifugal V2 SI-trim counter clockwise supercharger with, RGM-Excell high flow dump valve, and, very importantly, A RGM front intercooler, with engine electronics, ignition timing and fuel mapped and controlled by Uni-Q. To make things even sweeter, a second fuel pump can be controlled by a secondary switch, should the need be for some more extra juices. But the fun doesn’t stop

Adnaand George

there. A blue canister is carefully placed in the boot of the vehicle, which will help with delivering way more kW to the ground. I’m not entirely sure what this canister is. But I will leave you to search the phrase NOS, whenever you feel like it. Running the second pump, engaging all the goods that’s available, the 350 packs out a whooping 357kW at 7500 rpm, and 470Nm at 4000 rpm. Super sweet. Ever since the day I realized what I have in my possession, I never regretted purchasing the car. The setback by the previous 350z I looked at, doesn’t even bother me no longer. Adnaan took the car over to XModz to attend to the cosmetic side of things earlier this year. This is where the body had some slight, basic, but noticeable changes, for that simplicity look. One of the most attractive features XModz added to the car was the rear diffuser. The current rim set was fitted to the car. To give it a special touch, the words 350z and Tokyo Drift was embossed on the rubber of the vehicle. “As much as I really love this car, will I be honest

and say that I have not pushed the car to the limited or decided to take the car out to Killarney to see the true power of the car, as I’m still lightly a bit scared for the fearsome power the car delivers,” Adnaan continues onto say. When asked whether there are some future plans for the car, or maybe a next toy to raise the bar, Adnaan couldn’t help but mention the next purchase that will most definitely have to be something around 4 liters and of course V8 – give and take. “…But if I have to go for something else, I would have to go for the E90 M3, although I’m not ready to let go of this baby yet.” He might consider buying back his VR6 from his buddy, which he sold the car too, give a restoration in order to have both in his collection. From the first time I saw the car, the exhaust note was the main attraction that pulled my attention. The sweetest 350 I have ever heard. After spending some time with the car, getting to know the in’s and out’s of the car, I have gained more respect for the car. Putting your foot down in 5th gear at 100km/h is the sweetest gift this car can ever give you.

In a recent interview on the Ready D show, Ready D asked a question “what truly makes you a stance guy?” And with a reply from one of our members, “you know you deep in the scene when you go about your everyday, looking over your shoulder for those blue lights that’s going to pull your disk for driving too low” and with that being said I am fully embedded into the scene. Pretty stock still with her Grundig cassette player #LOL. Only added coilovers to her fine @ ss. I have a few things planned for her not much but ssshhhhhh I ain’t telling will be in the months ahead. So for now I’m doing the OEM look with hubcaps yeah. However my H-Day decal was sponsored by RGR Graffix with an awesome quote he chose always having people staring #GottaLoveIt and it reads: “Instead of Being Afraid of the Challenge & Failure, Be Afraid of Avoiding the Challenge and Doing Nothing” #Soichiro Honda Bigs Ups 2 Honda Republic Squad (CT)

Tourism entrepreneur Andrew Fowler shares the stories of him and his ride together with what he calls his “shopping list” – a list of goods he applied to make his vehicle more unique. Ferociously, this is the Fast Fate of Fowler.

we got to Andrew Fowler.

One could say it was meant to be, destined to be or it had to be, whichever you choose to state it. This love affair was bound to happen, sooner - or later.

It was H-Day, and I was walking around with Kim Samuels - one of the organizers. She called me over for a stroll and she happened to catch the eye of Andrew. Jumping right in front of us, out of the blue, Andrew wished to be assisted with a question he had. Politely Kim attended to him.

Before we dive deep into the story of the car and the owner, let me share the story on how

I gazed over as she assisted this tall fellow. Her head lifted to the sky in order to keep eye contact, and the conversation. Much to my amazement, we continued strolling, with Fowler right next to us, and my eyes happened to pluck this black hoodless black babe right in front of me - as we turned around a corner

smile on his face as he mentioned and listed a few things he really loves about the car.

main office building and moved in between the office and garage block. There the S2000 stood! The right spot at the right time. Perfect lighting conditions, and I happened to have one of my cameras with me at that very moment. Silently creeping away, I left their conversation and captured the moment I first saw this appealing S2K. Now that is what I can call being at the right spot at the right time. Fowler then moved his car over to the section where the limbo was happening, to which we were walking at that very moment. Leaving his car unattended, this was the perfect moment just to loose myself gawking at the car. There was a moment I actually forgot that I was at H-Day as I

lost sight of all the other Hondas present at the show. I should just add, that ever since, I knew I had to spend more time with the car and its owner. Entrepreneur in the tourism industry, Andrew Fowler is just a gentle and laid back soul. You can easily strike up a conversation with him. If there is one word I should throw out there that will describe Andrew, do I know the world humble will stick. It started off with a passion for cars, and always wanting to have owned one. Fowler set time aside to get the necessary information, knowing the goal he set for himself was a Honda S2000. When we had a moment to cool down and talk about his car, there was immediately this huge

Like many guys out there, I know the love of the S2000 started way back around 2004 when the first release of the saga, The Fast & The Furious. We all know the moment out in the desert when….wait, no; need to remind you, I know you know which part I’m talking about. Andrew bought his baby stock standard, but being the speed-fanatic that he is, he had to add on a few items to make the car unique, and different from the rest of the S2K’s roaming the Cape Town streets. This what Andrew refers to as his “shopping list.” The shopping list is a journal of the items placed on the car, whether it is to make the car more appealing to the eye, or to add a few extra kW to the engine. We were lucky enough to be informed on the “future” shopping list, the parts, gadgets and mods which will be coming the car’s way in the near future. On the day we set out some time to speak to

Andrew, we were slightly side-tracked by another vehicle that caught our attention. We pulled up, had coffee, and I kept starring at this yellow beetle parked just outside the shop. To the naked eye it only looked like another beautifully restored VW Beetle…until we heard the exhaust note. Running over to the car, we were amazed to a Subaru 2.0 liter engine, neatly tucked into the rear. This made us totally forget about Fowler and focus on the Beetle. Much to our amazement, Andrew too joined the conversation, glancing at the Beetle and just being amazed by the extensive modifications done to the vehicle. But now to the juicy part of things. The 2005 Honda S2000 n/a 2.0l inline 4 from the factory. The engine is unopened and untouched when it comes to the internal components, but a few extra goodies has been added. K&N filter was fitted inside the OEM box, but a Spoon Snorkel intake was added and a Spoon factory tuned ECU. The combination that helps with the mid-range. Waking up the neighbours is a dual 63mm exhaust. “This helped me kick some butt a few times at Killar-

ney Raceway,” Fowler enthusiastically added. With subtle touches to the body, one would immediately notice the few extras added to the car’s exterior – should you not be so deep into cars. On the outside we find an Amuse bumper, Spoon radiator and even oil filler plug. Spoon magnetic bolts, Mugen hardtop, and APR side mirrors sitting on top of a set narrow and wide Desmond Regamaster Evo/Spoon rims – what a mouth full. Still to come soon one will find a Js front fender, Spoon front bumper and GT spoiler. It is not going to be easy letting go of a ride like this. Andrew mentioned that if ever he should add another ride to his collection, it would probably be something in the range of the NSX. For a decision like that, he has our full support. It is such a pleasure to the see the great cars hidden amongst the Cape Town fraternity. With the constant upgrades some of these cars go through yearly, it is a total must for us to stay on track with these rides. And in the case of Fowler, that is sure what we will do.

CAPE

STREETS

All the happenings in and around Cape Town on one place.

Charity is at the heart of what we do as a car community and it is indeed something we try to spend most of our time on. Saturday, 29 July 2017 was no different as the Club S2K guys hosted an event in aid of a charitable cause. A few clubs and petrol-heads came out to support this braai events where funds were raised and were to be handed over to the NPO that has been assisting them throughout this journey. I think all in all the planning for this event was done well and that the execution was on point. It is always good when a group of people with the same passion can come together in aid of a good cause that will be making a tangible difference. The people that were there really enjoyed themselves in that there was an opportunity to make new friends and potential business partners. There was of course, as with most car events, a prize giving ceremony for various categories as well as a chance to win a smash and grab tint installed by PG Glass. Even though the turn-out was not what we had expected, we do believe that this event was a success and that there should be many more of the same types of events. Perhaps a suggestion would be to ensure that the entertainment at the event is fully covered to ensure that the crowd does not lose touch with the vibe you are trying to create. It is also important as the hosting club/organization to make sure that the crowd feels included but encouraging interaction. This of course can only be filtered through if you lead by example. Well done to Club S2K.

Doesn’t matter how cold it is, Cape Town will come out to have fun with friends and family. One text message and we ran over to a hook-up that was out on the Cape Town Streets. I really thought it would be an evening where everyone is home in front of the tv or perhaps the fire place. But to my amusement, there was actually a lot happening out on the streets. So grabbed my camera bag, jump in my car, hooked up with some friends and then it was time to go meet some more familiar faces. This made for some good coffee and conversation as cars were packed and scattered across the parking bays of a familiar hook-up spot in Cape Town. This really just give an indication that no matter what, the true petrolheads will let nothing keep them away from having a good time with friends. Even when there is no roads to drive on.

Again, the invitation came, and we ran. When we arrived there, we couldn’t believe our eyes because N1 City McDonalds parking lot has never been this packed (in our history of attending shows there). There were a number of car clubs and individual car enthusiasts who came out in the masses to support this day. It was so amazing for us to see how the people were interacting with one another and how everyone just had a smile on their face. There was of course a limbo competition that was hosted by Static Nation, a new club on the block that seems to be making waves in the car community at this point. From what we saw, the limbo was well executed and there was a certain level of teamwork that one does not see too often. As always, there were quite a number of photographer doing their rounds making sure to capture those great moments while people were socializing. We have gotten a few pings on Facebook with uploads made by some of those photographers and we must commend them on a job well done. This event, in our opinion, was a great success. The planning that went into the event was well executed and for that we say well done to Black Edition MK1 Crew. There is a rumour circulating that there will be a part two of this event and we at Movere are very excited to see this materialize. We will be keeping our pulse on social media to see what we can uncover. As always, we will bring you the latest news on this.
