MOWING

for a greener and healthier lawn THE WAY YOU MOW. Affects your lawns ability to resist grass diseases.

MOW HIGHER.

KEEP GRASS CLIPPINGS ON YOUR LAWN. Clippings return about 25% of the nutrients back to the soil.

Most grass should be cut at the highest recommended setting during the summer, to protect the stem from heavy sunlight.

MOW MORE OFTEN.

Mowing higher means doing it more often. Make sure you don’t remove more than 1/3 of the grass blade in one mowing.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SHARP BLADE.

Dull blades shred the tops of the grass and expose the turf's tissue for lawn disease spores to easily enter. Mowing with a dull blade is shown to increase disease activity by 20% or more and uses more fuel than a sharp blade. To avoid this, have your blades sharpened several times a season.

CLEAN THE UNDERSIDE OF THE DECK.

MOWING Techniques

Grass will stick to the underside of the deck. Use extra caution when performing this task and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for accessing the underside of the deck. If nothing else, be sure to disconnect the spark plug wire.

WAIT FOR THE GRASS TO DRY.

Mowing when the turf and soil are wet can lead to other problems. Wet soil will compact easier than dry soil, which can lead to poor rooting of the turf.
