I started drinking at weekends when I was 18.
At 19 I got a job as a farm labourer…
…but lost my job because I couldn’t get up on a Monday morning after drinking all weekend.
I did an alcohol detox in Doncaster, then moved to Wakefield where I got a flat and did it up really nice
I met a girl. She went home one night and when I went to see her the next day the Police had cordoned her house off. I learnt from her son that she had passed away in her sleep.
I went home, cried, then went to the shop and bought …
…a bottle of cider.
I continued drinking until I realised I needed help
I came to and support
who offered me help
I attended every appointment and got an alcohol detox.
I managed to stop drinking over Christmas and New Year which was hard because it was the festive period but I was determined to see it through and…
… I’ve not had a drink since!!!
I’ve been playing lots of draughts and cards, I’m eating well, I exercise daily, I go to the Bike Workshop and I have money in my pocket.
People are saying to me how well I’m looking which makes me feel I’m doing well
My goal now is to get back in to full time employment and live a “normal life”
