About Culture Days Culture Days is Canada’s annual arts and culture celebration with the mandate to encourage awareness, participation, and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Through a variety of shared initiatives, Culture Days is also committed to fostering long-term support for the arts and strengthening the skills and capacity of community-engaged creators and cultural leaders from diverse communities across the country not only during Culture Days, but 365 days a year. The annual Culture Days Weekend (Sep 29-30 & Oct 1, 2017), attracts hundreds of thousands of artists, cultural workers, organizations, community volunteers and supporters who offer more than 7500 free activities in nearly 800 communities that are attended by over two million Canadians each year. Position Overview The Communications and Engagement Manager plays the central role in leading all national Culture Days communications and engagement initiatives. The Manager will plan and implement integrated strategies and related content for all national digital communications properties, channels and vehicles, including website(s), social media, blog and e-newsletters. The Manager plays an important role in supporting national sponsor activations and marketing initiatives, including an annual public contest. She/He plans and writes all content and ensures engagement and growth in the Culture Days brand, activities and the annual Culture Days weekend. The Manager assists in the implementation of the Public Engagement Innovation Labs and leads the design and implementation of the associated best practice and knowledge sharing program. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communications skills in both English and French with an flair for capturing the attention of the public, media and diverse audiences with inspirational stories told in a variety of innovative ways. The candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, an ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently, is a creative problem solver and team player. The ideal candidate will also be forward-thinking and tech savvy with a vision for how the latest web, social media and communications platforms can enable arts and cultural organizations to reach new audiences and manage projects efficiently on limited resources.

Communications Responsibilities  Provide strategy and direction for all on-line communications properties  Curate, animate and closely monitor social media channels, website, e-newsletter, blog and other vehicles to be consistent with overall campaign strategy to ensure a distinct and appropriate brand voice  Maintain ongoing communications, editorial schedules and timelines internally and with key partners and collaborators  Coordinate all translations needs; ensures a bank of relevantly competent translators; manage translation budget  Track and measure the impact of communications activities, website performance and traffic  Collaborate with the Digital Projects Coordinator on planning and roll out of website developments and administration  Supervises any interns with respect to communications content and strategies National Marketing and PR Responsibilities  Collaborate with Marketing and PR teams to conceptualize national promotional strategies and activities. Work closely together to leverage key messaging, campaign development and roll-out  Collaborate with Marketing and PR teams to track media coverage and marketing impressions  Manage graphic asset needs with marketing agency  Manage the logistics and acts as liaison with the design team for the production of swag, marketing materials and advertisements  Contribute to the development of sponsorship strategies and pitches  Manage recognition and activation programs and benefits as per sponsor agreements. Coordinate with staff and sponsor representatives to optimize planning efforts and effective implementation  Conceive of public engagement tactics and execute communications related to national contests and incentive promotions  Manage communications related to distribution of branded marketing materials and swag Network Support, Research and Knowledge Dissemination Responsibilities  Oversee and manage best practice and knowledge sharing among national network  Provide support to Innovation Lab Partners  Collaborate on post-event survey design and implementation  Collaborate on the development, production and dissemination of on-line resource library

Qualifications:  An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Communications, Marketing and PR, Event Management, Arts Management or related field and/or a combination of relevant experience  Proven track-record in a community engagement or related activities
