BUSINESS NEED Thousands of Employees Worldwide Require Critical Technology Training For Migration to Microsoft 7 and Office 2010 When the company decided on a major upgrade of its technology – from Windows XP and Windows 2003 to Windows 7 and Office 2010, it needed an experienced partner to handle training for 64,000 employees, located in 90 different countries on the new technology. The company was looking for someone with an excellent reputation for handling massive training rollouts on an international level and chose to work with NetCom Learning. NetCom Learning had to strategize not only an effective training solution that would address the needs of a large, diverse group of 64,000 employees in various countries, but was also required to complete the training simultaneously, on a global level. The challenges that needed to be addressed while deploying a learning program included: Training a global base of 64,000 of its employees on the critical features of a new technology system and its applications Selecting the best learning method for an international end-user population where language and time differences had to be taken into consideration Ensuring the learning method selected would be effective in training employees at all levels of the organization In addition, NetCom Learning had to be mindful of the numerous security protocols that were in place to secure user data while developing a learning solution for this international financial organization.

LEARNING GOALS Preparing a Large Group of Employees Scattered Across the Globe On The Essential Functions of Microsoft 7 and Office 2010 NetCom Learning helped the company strategize an ideal learning solution that would enable the organization to meet their learning goal of successfully training 64,000 employees on the uses, features, and benefits of Microsoft 2007 and Office 2010 and assure employees would optimize its uses. The goal was to ensure all employees were knowledgeable on all aspects of the Microsoft 2007 system in order for the organization to: Increase network security and compliance to protect user data Use best-in-class technology to increase productivity Reduce productivity and systems costs associated with dated technologies It also wanted the 64,000 employees being trained to understand and apply the best-inclass capabilities in Office 2010, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. The goal was to help employees increase productivity by: Better managing professional documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and charts Employing the improved Ribbon feature for editing documents, pictures, and images for greater creativity Applying the powerful features of Excel to better manage data When the company turned to NetCom Learning to provide a learning solution, it wanted to ensure the 64,000 employees being trained would effectively optimize the features of Microsoft 7 and Office 2010 on a day-to-day basis and that training would be completed simultaneously across 90 countries.

LEARNING SOLUTIONS NetCom Learning Video Instruction and Quick Reference Guide Trains For a More Productive, Digital Future The organization needed a well-organized way to train 64,000 employees on the numerous features, techniques, and uses that Microsoft 7 and Office 2010 have to offer in order for employees to use it efficiently and effectively. NetCom Learning conducted an assessment to determine the optimal training method for a large, global workforce. With the challenge of training 64,000 employees in various locations around the world at the same time, NetCom Learning worked closely with the leaders of the firm to strategize a solution. NetCom Learning created a blended solution that included online videos that would enable employees to utilize online video content in a secure, central repository that was available in locations in all 90 countries. The benefits of the on-line learning videos include accessiblilty to materials at all locations, convenience of training availability around the clock, ability to review topics of interest when needed and customizable training content for all employees To complement the video training, Netcom Learning also created reference guides for employees, which could be easily accessed for tip and shortcuts on how to use various features of the systems and applications when needed.

This solution was optimal for the organization since it allowed training to be completed for all 64,000 employees simultaneously, negating the challenges associated with training a large group of global employees. A blended, on-line E-learning solution, with the additional support of the Quick Reference Cards, helped the organization save on costs, as well as reduced disruptions to time spent on the job and worker productivity. In addition, NetCom Learning centralized the videos on an internal secure server through their E-learning platform via the company’s online university, to ensure the organization was in compliance with data security requirements. While videos on the company’s E-Learning platform could be viewed at any time, the prerequisite for coming to class included completing reading and finishing written assignments. The trainer was available to answer questions students had about their online E-learning courses or other materials during the class. The instructor provided guidance, tips and tricks, measured how the students were progressing between sessions and provided personalized feedback to each student. As a result of the training, several employees achieved the certifications, while several others are on the path to receiving their certifications.
