Welcome

We were delighted to open our brand new branch at Alton on 16 October, after much hard work behind the scenes. The new branch can be found on Waterbrook Road just off Mill Lane.

As well as all the usual building and landscaping materials, you’ll also find a brick library plus a stunning new bathroom showroom on the first floor with lift access.

Terry joined the Bordon team on 16 October. He previously worked for us 12 years ago and has also worked in utilities and commercial tyre fitting. He saw how Bordon was growing and wanted to be part of it. He enjoys Xbox gaming and mountain biking.

What our customers say … “Popped in the new Coomers in Alton, very impressive, looks great.”

Introducing our 2018 Charity of the Year!

£294 Raised at Coffee Mornings

We’re delighted to announce our 2018 charity of the year is The Hunter Centre - supporting those living with dementia.

Many thanks to all who supported our Coffee Mornings at Alton, Bordon & Haslemere on 25 October.

The day care facility operates three days a week from the Marjorie Gray Hall on Grayswood Road in Haslemere.

We’ll add this total to our 2017 fundraising for Broadlands Group Riding for the Disabled and look forward to presenting them with a cheque in the New Year, which we hope will help towards the much needed re-roofing of their riding school in Medstead.

The centre provides care and stimulation for those living with various forms of dementia. Each client is treated as an individual with respect and dignity. Support is given by staff with many years experience in dementia care in a very relaxed, friendly and secure environment. On the 4th Tuesday of each month they also hold a Carers Café, where carers can pop in for support and advice.

We were privileged to visit them in October and see first-hand the many ways that riding truly benefits people with all kinds of disabilities - more than perhaps a lot of us might realise.

Thanks for helping us support this worthy cause. You can find out more about The Hunter Centre at: www.thehuntercentre.co.uk

£560 raised for Broadlands Group Riding for the Disabled at Golf Day 46 guests joined us for 18 holes of golf at our annual charity Golf Day at Blacknest Golf Club on 22 September, sponsored by Hunter Plastics. Once again, the weather was very kind to us and it was another enjoyable event for a great local cause. After coffee and bacon rolls, 12 teams enjoyed an afternoon on the course, followed by the prize-giving, and a delicious 2 course evening meal in the clubhouse. More than 1,400 pieces of coloured acetate were provided at locations across the town for people to write the name of someone they wished to remember. These were then gathered up and strung together, to which a weight and sleigh bell was fastened. For one week covering Remembrance weekend these were all secured to a timber framework around the amphitheatre events space, creating a spectacle of colour and sound. Whitehill & Bordon Community Association thanked us for our donation and are hoping to repeat and build upon the event in 2018.

In the summer, 1st Camelsdale Scout Group built a tree bog (composting loo) thanks to materials donated by our Haslemere branch, including timber, plastic corrugated roofing and a gate. The Scouts thanked us for our support: "We are enormously grateful for the support from Coomers, without which our project would have taken much longer to get off the ground and complete because of the fundraising that would have been involved. We now have a campground loo, which will be much appreciated by our Scouts, Cubs and Beavers on the many weekends they camp at our HQ on Marley Lane. A big thank you to the Coomers team for supporting our project."

Sunday 10 December If you can, please support this event in aid of Young Minds and The National Autistic Society. The event is in memory of Jasmine Bush, who sadly lost her battle with depression and anxiety earlier this year. The family and friends are raising money for these charities to help other young people who suffer with mental illness. We’re sponsoring the football kit and the organisers have had fantastic support from the local community. Jaz Bush Football Charity Day
