New Literacies in Practice (3 credit hours)

Online Learning - Google Docs - Apps for all Subjects - Social Media  Learn technology‐based ac vi es to teach your school’s curriculum  Study various learning management systems and social networking  Integrate mul media arts into the classroom This graduate course will allow for me to prac ce and work in new media that are currently revolu onizing classroom instruc on. This course is designed for educators of all subject areas and grade levels, and all levels of technology abili es and interests – from the complete novice to the techno‐wizard. These new communica on tools will be explored in a non‐threatening manner with technical support provided. Dr. Kist will demonstrate examples of visionary assignments and assessments he has collected over 20 years from all over the world and in all subject areas. However, this is not a lecture‐based course. While theore cal perspec ves on new literacies will be touched on, par cipants will be expected to have a project they would like to work on during the course, so the work done during the course may be put to actual use in the fall.
