ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION 2011 LUMEN WINTER GALLERY

CALL FOR ENTRIES: All artists within the United States at any stage in their artistic careers are encouraged to submit CDs of work completed in the 2005 to 2010 calendar years to the New Rochelle Council on the Arts’ annual juried exhibition. Accepted work will be exhibited at Lumen Winter Gallery from March 1 to March 31, 2011. All original two- and three-dimensional wall-hung work will be accepted for review; no freestanding works will be eligible for acceptance. All work submitted must be available for exhibiting; substitutions will not be allowed. The final selection of work to be exhibited in NRCA’s annual juried exhibition 2011 will be chosen by a panel of qualified jurors.

JURORS: Shervone Neckles – Artist, curator, and educator, Neckles work investigates the historical events that have influenced the traditions that have and continues to shape Black Culture. She has exhibited throughout the United States including The Center for Book Arts, Gordon Parks Gallery at The College of New Rochelle, and Michael Steinberg Fine Art, all located in New York, NY; The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT; The Center for Paper and Book Arts in Columbia College, Chicago; and Chapman Gallery at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. Neckles’ recent residencies include Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, MA; The Center for Book Arts, New York, NY; Youlou Arts Foundation, Teaching Artist-in-Residence Program, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies; and Cooper Union Artist Teacher Residency Program, New York, NY. Her recent awards include Workspace Grant for Emerging Artists, The Center for Book Arts, New York, NY; Teacher's College Minority Scholarship, Columbia University, New York, NY; The Cornelia Tomas Scholarship, Teacher's College, Columbia University, New York, NY; and the Joan Mitchell Special Project Grant, New York, NY. Scott Seaboldt – Artist, curator, and educator, Seaboldt is co-founder of AS220 in Providence, RI, a curator of the biennial Ides of March exhibition at ABC No Rio in New York City, and an art instructor at New Rochelle High School. He focuses his artistic practice in drawing and painting. Seaboldt has exhibited throughout New York City, including Macy Gallery at Columbia University, Susan Burke Gallery, Chashama, and ABC No Rio. He also shows frequently throughout Westchester, including 3rd Rail Gallery, Backstreet Gallery, New Rochelle’s BID Gallery, 542 Gallery, Wildcliff Center for the Arts, Castle Gallery at The College of New Rochelle, Media Loft, Manor Club of Pelham and the Pelham Art Center.Seaboldt’s recent residencies include the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Amherst, VA; AS220, Providence, RI, and ABC No Rio, New York, NY. Jessica Cioffoletti – Artist, curator, and educator, Cioffoletti is the Associate Director of Arts in Education at ArtsWestchester and teaches painting and drawing to children and adults at Concordia Conservatory of Music and Art, Bronxville Adult Education and privately. She also reviews theater as a freelance

writer for New York Moves Magazine and is on the Board of Castle Gallery at The College of New Rochelle and Westchester Arc’s Gallery 265. Previously she has worked for the Rubin Museum, Pelham Art Center, Castle Gallery at The College of New Rochelle, and the Museum of Modern Art.

APPLICATION: All entrants must complete the entry form which can be downloaded from www.newrochellearts.org. Please include completed entry form with a CD that contains 3 images (8 x 10 in., 300 dpi jpegs only; no tiffs, pdfs, power point, etc.), corresponding image list (all jpeg image names should correspond to entry form), single-page artist statement, and single-page résumé to: Katrina Rhein Attn: NRCA Submission 29 Castle Place New Rochelle NY 10805 Artist statement, résumé, and image list should be provided as hard copy AND in digital format on the submission’s CD.

Image Identification Sheet: On your image list please indicate the digital images you have submitted including the following information: a. Your name b. Number of each digital image (from 1-3) c. Title of work (please indicate whether digital image is a detail) d. Medium e. Dimensions f. Date of work

ENTRY FEE: Free for NRCA members; $15.00 for a maximum of three (3) images (8x10 in, 300 dpi jpegs). This can be remitted through PayPal at www.newrochellearts.org or sent as a personal check or money order (no cash!) with the hard copy of your entry form, documents, and accompanying CD. When paying via PayPal, please indicate that the payment is in regards to NRCA Annual Juried Exhibition. All checks and money orders should be made out to: The New Rochelle Council on the Arts.

SPECIFICATIONS OF ACCEPTED WORK: All accepted work must: Arrive completely ready for installation with eye hooks and wire attached and if necessary, framing. NRCA will not assume these costs. Not exceed 48 inches in width. Not exceed a weight of 30 lbs. Be clearly labeled on the back with name, address, phone number, title, medium and price.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS All work intended to be hung on the walls must be framed (if applicable), and securely wired. Inappropriately presented work will not be accepted. Installers will take special care in handling all submissions, but neither the New Rochelle Council on the Arts nor the Lumen Winter Gallery/New Rochelle Public Library will be responsible for damage due to poor construction, framing, wiring, or other problems inherent in the work. Artists are responsible for providing adequate protection or instructions for fragile artwork that requires special handling.

GALLERY HOURS Lumen Winter Gallery, located within New Rochelle Public Library, is located at 1 Library Plaza New Rochelle, NY 10801. Both the Library and the Gallery are public spaces that are accessible to all during the NRPL’s standard hours of operation: Mondays: 9am – 8pm, Tuesdays: 9am – 8pm, Wednesday: 10am – 6pm, Thursdays: 9am – 8pm, Fridays, 9am – 5pm, Saturdays: 9am – 5pm, and Sundays: 1pm-5pm. RECEIVING AND RETURN OF ACCEPTED WORK: All shipment costs are the participating artists’ responsibility. Please include UPS number for return shipment or artwork will be return shipped COD. Receiving Art work may be hand delivered on Monday, February 28, 2010 only, no later than 12:00 noon. Hand deliveries will be received at Lumen Winter Gallery, located on the ground floor of The New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plaza New Rochelle, NY. Or artwork may be shipped to be received Thursday and Friday, February 24 and 25 ONLY. Please ship care of Judith Weber, Attn: NRCA Juried Art Exhibition, 50 Webster Ave. New Rochelle, NY 10801. Returning Artwork may be picked up from the Library on Thursday, March 31 between the hours of 12:00 noon and 3:30 pm. Or art work will be return shipped COD or via pre-provided artists UPS number.

LIABILITY AND INSURANCE: All work is insured while in the possession of the NRCA. Insurance prices are based on sale prices, minus 20% (sale commission fee). The NRCA reserves the right to photograph and use accepted work for documentation, website publicity or catalogue purposes.

SALES: Artwork can be offered for sale during the exhibit. The NRCA will retain a 20% commission on work sold during the exhibition. No changes in price will be allowed upon acceptance. Works not for sale should be listed NFS.

AGREEMENT: The receipt of any entry is understood to convey agreement by the entrant to all conditions set forth and inferred in this prospectus. NRCA has been in existence for over thirty years and was created by a resolution adopted by the New Rochelle City Council on April 8, 1975. Our mission is to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts and the public’s interest and participation therein. This is exemplified by our sponsorship of a vast number of exhibitions, theatrical productions, dance recitals, film screenings, lectures, and concert series.
