2017 UNIQUELY HALDIMAND PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON – On December 13, Haldimand County announced its 2017 Uniquely Haldimand Photo Contest winners. In total, the County received over 120 submissions from 71 entrants, the highest ever in the contest’s 6-year history. A panel of judges comprised of County staff, community figures & a local photographer/filmmaker closely examined all submissions and determined the grand prize, second prize and honorable mention winners. The winners include: Grand Prize ($100 Twisted Lemon gift certificate): Celebrations by Heather DeBoer, Caledonia
Honorable Mention #1 ($25 Argyle St. Grill gift certificate): Reflections by Natasha Danko, South Cayuga
2nd Prize ($50 Debb’s Cuisine gift certificate): Yellow Warbler by Brian Popelier, Cayuga
Honorable Mention #2 ($25 Debb’s Cuisine gift certificate): Fall Colours by Randy Carter, Cayuga
In addition to contest prizes (gift cards for local culinary experiences), winning photographs will be featured in an exhibit within Haldimand County Museum & Archives beginning in January. Photos will also be displayed permanently on Haldimand County’s online photo gallery, shared through social media and used in future tourism promotion materials. “We were thrilled with the community’s response this year and so impressed by the number of incredible submissions,” said Kyra Hayes, Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives at Haldimand County. “The contest is a great way for people to share their unique perspective on what makes this area so special, and helps us showcase the County’s appeal to potential visitors,” she added. Special thanks are owed to contest judges Graeme Bachiu (Windecker Road Films), Kaitlyn Clark (The Haldimand Press), Karen Richardson (Haldimand Museums) and Jane Andersen (Haldimand County Economic Development & Tourism) for their participation and thorough, thoughtful examination of all entries.
