RCC Foundation names new executive director The Rogue Community College Foundation has named Judith E. Basker as its new executive director. Ms. Basker will join the college May 19. She is currently senior major gifts officer for Willamette University, Salem, a position she has held since 2000. “This is a pivotal time for the Foundation, and we are thrilled to welcome Judy into the position of executive director,” said RCC Foundation Board member Liz Crossman. “Her proven fundraising and friend-raising skills will build awareness of the incredible asset Rogue Community College is to all of us who live in the Rogue Valley.” Former Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Wheatley resigned in January after accepting a position with Dutch Brothers, which is developing its own foundation.

“The screening committee received applications from several highly qualified individuals and selected two excellent candidates for final interviews,” said RCC President Peter Angstadt. “We are delighted that Judy Basker will be the new executive director.” “It will be nice to have a Basker representing Grants Pass once more,” said Midge Renton, president of the RCC Foundation Board and a member of the RCC Advisory Committee. Basker is the daughter of Anne and Jim Basker, longtime RCC supporters who both served on the RCC Board of Education. Anne Basker was a member of the first RCC Board, serving from 1970 through 1973. She also was a Josephine County commissioner. Jim Basker served on the RCC Board from 1986 to 1996. “Having been born and raised in Grants Pass, I have a particular affinity for southern Oregon and RCC,” Ms. Basker said in her letter of application for executive directorship. “In fact, I took one of my first college courses at RCC,” she added. “I am excited at the idea of returning to the place of my ‘roots.’ ” Basker was part of a team at Willamette University, which planned and executed a $125 million capital campaign. Her primary expertise, she said, has been with major gifts from individuals and family foundation. “My extensive experience includes community engagement, planning and executing events, raising annual unrestricted funds, organizing faculty and staff campaigns, and the full range of advancement activities one might expect at a college,” she wrote. “In conjunction with other colleagues, I have also been involved with gift planning and corporate and foundation relations.” Basker earned a doctor of jurisprudence degree from the College of Law, Willamette University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication arts (cum laude) from the University of San Francisco. She is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, the Counsel for Advancement and Support of Education, the Mid-Willamette Valley Development Officers, and the Willamette Valley Development Officers. Prior to her position at Willamette, Basker served as an executive recruiter and placement consultant for legal professionals in Houston, Texas; executive director and later regional representative of Oxbridge Academic Programs, (New York and Houston); assistant vice president of candidate services with Law Services, Newton, Pa., and assistant dean for admission at the WU College of Law. She also worked as an attorney in Portland.
