Ospreys Host Willamette and Oregon State in Final Home Stand GRANTS PASS—It’s the last chance to come out and cheer the Rogue Community College Ospreys in exciting soccer action in their final home stand of the season this weekend facing Willamette on Saturday, November 1 at 12:30 p.m. and Oregon State University on Sunday, November 2 at 11 a.m. Last week the Ospreys tangled with Central Oregon Community College in Bend on Saturday and then the Mt Angel Guardians at home on Sunday. It was Central Oregon over the Ospreys 4-2 in Bend with game-time winds at 25 miles an hour and gusts up to 40. Game observers reported the ball literally stopping at times in midair and dropped like a rock. Other times, the ball soared like it was shot from a cannon. Central Oregon grabbed an early lead with a run down the left wing that found an open man in the box for the tap-in goal. Later in the half a handball in the box brought Zeke Flores to the penalty spot for the Ospreys where he sent the goalie flying the wrong way to tie the match at 1-1. The second half started with the wind sailing the ball past the RCC goalie to give Central Oregon a 2-1 lead. They took the momentum and a few minutes later blasted a 35-yard free kick into the upper corner to make it 3-1. The Osprey struck back as Flores won a second penalty kick. Bryce Jones stepped up to the spot, the goalie guessed well, diving to his left, but the rebound went straight back to Jones who kicked it in. It was 3-2. Central Oregon took advantage of some tired legs—the Ospreys only had 11 men for the trip--with constant line changes to stay fresh and managed to slot another goal home late in the match for the 4-2 win.

The Ospreys tied the Mt. Angel Guardians 1-1 on Sunday. The Ospreys defeated Mt. Angel 5-3 earlier in the season, and Mt. Angel came out aggressive for the rematch, resulting in a red card for a dangerous tackle. Despite the one-man advantage, RCC was did not convert on goal with a penalty kick taken by Emanuel Begaj that just grazed the crossbar. The Guardians converted late in the half for a 1-0 lead. It was a very physical second half, with many yellow cards, and then a rebound from a shot fell to the feet of Alan Silva who tied it for the Ospreys. Both sides had several chances to break the tie in the last 5 minutes, but the game ended 1-1.
