CONVOCATION

The 6th convocation of IICD was held on November 18, 2017, which was attended by the Honorable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mrs. Vasundhra Raje Sindhia. Also, IICD hosted an International Conference on Recent Trends in Crafts & Design (2017) on 17th & 18th November, 2017.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE @IICD IICD hosted an International Conference on Recent Trends in Crafts & Design (2017) on 17th & 18th November, 2017.

IICD @ RAJASTHALI The students of IICD visited the Rajasthan Government owned “Rajasthali” to put their expertise to use by providing guidance on re-decoration, merchandising and popularising traditional crafts of the state.

ELEPHANT PAINTING COMPETITION A painting competition of elephant models was held at the Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD), Jaipur. The objective of the event was to generate mass awareness about the environment and forest ecology among students. The competition was organised by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) in association with the Elephant Welfare Association and DCF (Wildlife) Zoo, Jaipur. A total of 74 students belonging to standards 9-12th from various schools had participated. They were given 2 hrs to paint their elephant models.

INIFD STUDENT VISIT AT IICD A glimpse of the visit made by 100 INIFD Interior Design and Fashion Design students at IICD. Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) is the premier design institute with 180 centres all over India & abroad. The institute offers state of the art infrastructure & facilities for budding designers and provides them Degree & Diploma Courses in Fashion & Interior Design.

MoU of IICD

IICD is proud to announce that it has signed an MOU with Plymouth College of Art, United Kingdom, to conduct collaborative research activities in the area of crafts.

Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur(IICD) has signed a MoU with Adelaide Central School of Art, South Australia under the International Linkages programme on 8 November, 2017. The objective of the MOU is to outline the possible ways both parties could develop and carry out collaborative art and craft activities.

India Design Summit It was the 17th CII-NID India Design Summit. Over a period of two days there were about 28 talks (including panel discussions and inaugural sessions), averaging about 20 mins each. Theme was design thinking, design education, design leadership and other reflections of design related works and experiences. Most of these presentations were absorbing and informative. The Director of IICD Toolika Gupta’s candid talk was extremely well appreciated and concluded with several Q&A and followerships. Equally important was the networking and this visit has made a strong presence of IICD felt among the design leaderships.

The CLLB programme as part of the valedictory had a session titled - In Conversation with Gildo Zegna- at IIMA campus.ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA, is the largest Men’s luxury brand in the world. Mr. Gildo Zegna, the current CEO of the group . Gildo explore the brand’s journey up until it came to be regarded as a “luxury brand” with an intention of understanding what it takes to build brands before they reach an iconic status with little or no support of advertisement.Dr. Toolika Gupta and Mr.Binil Mohan attended the session representing IICD.IICD is the Creative Skill Partner for the CLLB programme.

PUPPET-MAKING WORKSHOP The puppet-making workshop proved to be an enriching and enjoyable experience for the students of D Y Patil International School, Mumbai.

VISIT of BAREFOOT COLLEGE The design students at IICD were greatly inspired by the visit from Barefoot College. It is an institute that is working on a sustainable initiative to build a “whole village” near Tilonia, Rajasthan out of waste materials, especially Plastic waste.

KOTA EXHIBITION IICD supported the 4th Kota Schools Art Exhibition, Rajasthan during 27th to 30th January 2018. The aim of the exhibition was to connect students with art and craft to ponder upon their future prospects. The Exhibition was wholly handled by Victoria Singh , Kota Heritage Society. IICD faculties- Ms. Anuja Kumar and Mr. Anis Mohammed along with 8 student volunteers attended the 4 day exhibition.

IICD @ MAKERFEST MAKER FEST is an informal local event typically organized by volunteers/change makers like you and me. From once to several times a year, small groups of like minded people gather local volunteers in their own community (university, neighborhood, village, apartment complex) and celebrate the makers they know.
