NICHE Leadership Training Program Overview NICHE Designation: The Leadership Training Program (LTP) is the first step in becoming a NICHE Designated Hospital. Becoming a NICHE Designated Hospital demonstrates your organization’s commitment and ability to provide quality care for older adult patients. About the LTP: Hospitals interested in becoming a NICHE site complete an eight step NICHE Designation Process that includes participation in the LTP. Each individual hospital must register a core team for the LTP. Multiple hospitals within systems must register a core team for each individual hospital. At a minimum, three people responsible for steering the initiative — a nurse clinician leader, a clinical educator, and an administrator or manager — should attend the LTP. Direct care staff and other disciplines (medical, rehab, social work, pharmacy, etc.) are also recommended. What your team will do in the LTP: • Engage in live meetings (webinar format) complemented by specific assignments • Work with NICHE Faculty Mentors who facilitate online discussion forums, guide interactive calls and webinars, and share experiences • Complete assignments drawn from the NICHE Implementation & Planning Guide and the Evidence-Based Geriatric Nursing Protocols for Best Practice book to guide the planning of NICHE implementation in your hospital • Develop an action plan for your hospital to implement the NICHE Program (NICHE does not prescribe a specific plan – implementation will vary according to the individual facility characteristics; even hospitals in the same system do not have the exact same needs) • Learn clinical, financial, and organizational measurement approaches to evaluate program effectiveness • Earn 30+ contact hours for continuing education credits
