The NoMa Business Improvement District (NoMa BID) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create a clean, safe and friendly environment for residents, workers and visitors and to promote the redevelopment of NoMa. The NoMa BID encompasses 250+ acres just north of Union Station in Washington, DC, and has been the fastest growing neighborhood in the city for the last decade. The NoMa Business Improvement District seeks an Events Manager, a full-time employee who will focus on the execution and promotion of dozens of community events each year to help promote the NoMa neighborhood. The goal of these events is to build community, promote the NoMa neighborhood, celebrate the revitalization of the neighborhood, and contribute to a vibrant quality of life for those working, living and visiting in NoMa. The Manager must be an energetic, creative, detail-oriented, fun-loving multi-tasker, able to manage several projects simultaneously while managing day-to-day responsibilities. The Manager will work collaboratively with all NoMa BID staff members and think creatively about how to accomplish NoMa BID objectives. Specific Responsibilities: Event Management & Promotions • Organize and oversee 50+ free community events organized by the NoMa BID each year, including the award-winning NoMa Summer Screen, Bike to Work Day, PARK(ing) Day, the July 4 Bash, the Nerds in NoMa speaker series and Lobby Project activation, regular stakeholder walking tours, lunchtime concerts, Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour and more. • Organize and oversee other NoMa BID events as needed, including groundbreakings, retail openings, and celebrations of significant events or launches • Assist with organization of the NoMa BID Annual Meeting each spring, a large cocktail event with a chef component. • Help attract large, unique events to the neighborhood that are organized by others. • Work closely with Marketing Director and staff to develop annual events calendar and budget • Assist in the design of new event concepts and the enhancement of existing event programs – including scope, target audience, logistics and budget; identify and develop any relevant partners with community organizations and sponsors. • Create and manage individual event budgets within the total NoMa BID marketing budget. • Assist Marketing Director in building event sponsorship plan by identifying key partners whose participation and affiliation with event will add value, extend event outreach, and bring in revenue.

Manage all logistical aspects of events, including: set-up, breakdown, volunteer coordination, and contracting labor/vendors. Manage and negotiate event production vendor contracts. Work with marketing team and/or creative agency in the design and production of promotional materials and advertising campaign, e.g. posters, flyers, signage/banners, ads, etc. Assist in securing needed city permits, insurance and other event logistics permissions. Assist the marketing team with managing dedicated event websites, communications and PR efforts, and/or social media channels. Post-event: develop event debriefs by hosting meetings and doing post-event feedback surveys.

Marketing: • Assist in managing and maintaining the BID image library. • Assist in managing and maintaining the BID’s email database of members and consumers. Other • Maintain key relationships with BID members, vendors, and community partners • Supervise seasonal interns • Various other projects as requested/assigned by Marketing Director Reporting Relationships Position reports to the Director of Marketing & Events. Experience/Qualifications: ! Bachelor’s Degree required ! 3-4 years of experience in related field required ! Proven ability to successfully develop and execute high-quality, tasteful events – small to large scale ! Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; accountable ! Excellent written and verbal communication skills • A strategic, creative and tactical thinker; ability to take an idea from concept to reality/execution • Ability to handle multiple tasks in fast-paced environment with a positive approach to problemsolving • Should be able to carry out directives and complete assignments with minimal supervision • Can prioritize own work for maximum efficiency and productivity • Ability to interface effectively with many different constituencies • Attention to detail • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PPT) • Marketing and design skills in Adobe Creative Suite a plus, including experience with Wordpressbased web sites, electronic newsletters, and creation of event materials and marketing collateral. • Photography skills and experience with social media a plus

Salary Salary commensurate with experience.
